Guess I haven't bought a TV in a while....

It's been a few years, but I need to buy a new 50 or 55" for the living quarters.

I went into a store to look, and my eyes kind of glazed over....my only wish is that it be thin, so it doesn't hang way away from the wall.

4K to not to 4K?

What brand do you have and really like?

Know of any good deals out there?

Samsung gets lots of great reviews but we have had 0 complaints from the 3 Sharp Aquous I put in the house. I wouldn't waste money on 4k either just yet. Not enough programming to benefit from it yet.

I bought the 55" LG 4K tv at wal mart for $698. I am really pleased with it. Much better than my 5 year old Samsung 46" that was twice that much when I bought it...

I would recommend it.

I'm thinking this TV is going in the living quarters of the barn where we put all the drunks and dog people, so they aren't getting any tv that costs over a grand.

I didn't know how much was out there -- we just have direct tv HD and apple TV.

I use slickdeals.com, go there and type in 1080p TV, 4k TV, HD TV, or whatever your looking for and it will compile a list of deals that others post. Its like a forum for deals, people find them and post them, and others rate them... I always wait for deals on there before i buy, i got my current tv for more than half off. A guy found a coupon for instore, then a another posted a web coupon for the same tv, so using both i was able to get a killer deal. Love that site.

Samsung. Don't worry about 4K yet. I have one with and one without. Just not worth it at this point.
