I know what i want before i go in there to buy it. I dont ask questions i just need them to get it out of the gun case and deal with the paperwork.

I agree that there are a lot of uneducated salesmen out there but I think the responsibility falls on the buyer. An informed buyer should never rely on the salesman.

As salesmen see it, an idiot is born every second.

I went to gander mountain one evening looking at small caliber bolts and single shots for my son. While looking at a .243 single shot the counter guy/ salesman/ idiot asked if I was planning on taking my son dove hunting with the rifle.... This is why I educate myself before going to those places!

I don't have any issues with the Academy in Frisco close to my house, but I don't ask their advice either.

You must have left your P&Y status off your resume!!!

They also sell what works in your particular area, not blanket gear like bass pro and academy.

I think there used to be one of these in Plano many years ago.

Oh ok, I thought it was a Waco shop I was missing out on.

I definitely go to academy to buy stuff... not to shop for stuff. I've always already had my research done before buying a gun from them.

And not all "gun shops" are that much better. I've overheard some gun shop sales people say/do some really stupid things.

We had them here and they all went belly up. There was one in Lewisville that I went to a couple of times. Like you said, nice folks that knew their stuff.

You guys should go in there and ask to look at every rifle they have just to PO the guy.
