Academy Gun Counter...

I hate knocking people but man...
This guy has been working the gun counter for several years and there's no telling how many unknowing people he's dooped over...

A lady asks to look at the .22s.
He directs her to the shotguns... Then points out a Rossi.223 and called it a "Heavy Barrel Shotgun"...

I had to step in and say something.
I asked, "Ma'am, can I ask what your budget is?"
She said around $200.
I said, "this time of year you can find Ruger 10/22s for around that and that would be the best bang for your buck on .22s"

The guy said, "Yeah we have them for $209 right now but we're SOLD OUT"

I backed off for a second and kept looking and listening.

He then walks he over to the .22s and starts showing her all the AR platform .22s which are above her $200 window. Then he took her back to the shotguns...

She got tired of his shenanigans and was walking off. I approached her again and said, "Ma'am, you see that brown gun right there?" She said, "Yes! It's pretty!" Lol, I said, "That's the 10/22 that they're "sold out of". That's what I'd spend $200 on if I were getting a .22"

She said thanks and bought it.

I should've told her to go somewhere else...

Yep. That is what close to minimum wage help and discount stores offer. I have never been impressed with their product knowledge.

I like to stand in the ammo and listen to them. Cracks me up. Had one awhile back that told me I could shoot .45 out of my .40 if I just changed the mags. They were out of 40 ammo.

My biggest pet peeve with the Academy (at least in Victoria) is the abject, utter lack of any attempt to organize the ammunition. It's just piled on the shelf in randomly, with absolutely no thought given to any semblance of order. It offends my OCD nature...

There are a couple of Academy stores that I visit. Luckily both of them have at least one knowledgeable representative behind the counter, but I can't say much for some of the other representatives and their comments.

I'm glad Mac was able to help the lady out as Academy usually has competitive prices.
