The schedule was set before the season...as were the projections for finishing last in the division.

As I said, trolling from you and Jason just doesn't have much bite to it this season.

How many home games or games in the state? You can use the preseason hate all you like. The fan base never bought into that. It's a fact that the schedule set up for a run not a troll and the defense which haunted yall was much improved while the loaded aspect of your roster is on offense and it was bad to average throughout the season.

        Whatever the excuses are.

So it turns out that the Missouri team decided not to play anyway amid the turmoil and their school president resigning.

                      Seven.

Here is (part of) my post from preseason prediction thread.

I've liked Bama because they're historically proven and always have talent....

I think the Ags will win 9. Their upside is high if they can get some defensive stops without a drop in offensive production. Their offense was high powered, in general, last season, but they seemed to bog down at times, too. Hopefully KA will benefit from a full offseason as the starter and be consistently good. I'm curious to see how they use Murray, and how they are able to spread the ball to the incredible talent stockpiled at WR.

                      ...

I'm optimistic but nervous about the Ags this season. With some uncertainties with just about every team in the SECW, just about every team can make a case for winning the division. By all accounts, a really good team (and coach) will finish at the bottom of the division. Bama has some questions, but they keep stocking up potential answers in recruiting, so I have a hard time not putting them at the top of the division again. I expect LSU to make a leap back up this season, and Auburn is expected by most experts to do well.

Any of the other four teams, including A&M, could legitimately finish as either bottom dwellers or atop the division, depending on "breaks" and/or players that step up unexpectedly.

Naturally, I'm optimistic about lots of things going well in Aggieland and hope they prove most of the "experts" wrong. I expect big things from Kyle Allen and the offense, especially if they can find some semblance of a running game to compliment KA and the stable of receivers. Defensively, of course, is where the questions remain. If nothing else, I expect the group will benefit from age and experience, but I think the biggest problem for the defense over the last few years is that the scheme was too complicated and didn't put the playmakers in position to make plays. If that's the case, then the addition of Chavis could pay huge dividends, even in year one.
No doubt that overall I'm disappointed in how this season has played out. Although I predicted 9 total wins (including bowl), I hoped for a better showing against Bama and Ole Miss and, of course, expected better against Auburn at home in light of how their season played out.

Even in the wins, I hoped for better offensive efficiency and consistency (although I expressed it as a concern in my first post).

Either Allen was injured, or Sumlin panicked in replacing him with the true freshman, who made true freshman mistakes. If Allen wasn't injured, he made sophomore mistakes that crushed his confidence in the Bama game.

I won't speak for the "fan base"", but while I was optimistic going in, I think I was also realistic about my expectations. Unfortunately, the schedule "set up" a year too early, and that was my feeling at the beginning of the season.

@AutulloAAS: Am told Iowa State has called an unscheduled team meeting for noon. Could be to discuss Paul Rhoads' future after collapse at K-State.

Probably an extension for beating Texas this season

It is going to be hard for LSU and the State of Louisiana to justify spending $15M on buying out Miles when the state is in such financial distress and $40 oil.

IF it happens, I think it has more to do with some internal beef and goes back to the last couple of years (Chavis ordeal included) instead of the actual direction of the program. They would use this skid as their public "reason" but it has to be more rooted than that. Doesn't LSU have the #2 ranked recruiting class (I know its early) right now? I would be that would take a hit if he is replaced.
