Hey, 3rd is better than 4th in the West. That's all that matters to them.

I just cannot see them paying the $15M to Les and then the $2M or so to get rid of the rest....but the state did just elect a Member of the Democrat party Governor.
I don't think they will. Saying that, I'm not sure $15M is that much money to the big colleges anymore.

$15 mil a drop in the bucket for LSU. buyout drops a few million on Jan 1. Gonna be interesting to see what plays out.

When you start talking $15M+ I believe the Pres of any University steps in and says no. That's a lot of money they would see not available to academics, operations, etc. whether it ever was or not.

Smack is easy. Of course, it holds more weight for those at the top of their respective leagues than the ones at the bottom.

A&M was projected to finish last in the division this season because of youth, questions on defense and strength of the division.. A win against LSU would give them 5 wins and put them in 3rd in the division. The offense has been disappointing (in part because of play design and play calling and in part because of poor decisions and play by inexperienced QBs - mystery injury notwitstanding). The defense (which just pitched a shutout for the first time since 2004) has improved, but still has weakness at LB and inexperience at corner. They've been a little too "bend-but-don't- break"", but "third and Chavis" still has them 22nd in the nation in third down defense and a respectable 34th in scoring defense (both 2nd in the division behind only Bama).

Yes, ultimate success is measured in championships, and A&M hasn't accomplished that yet. I've said for a few years that A&M is ahead of schedule based on pre-SEC projections...worst case, I think they're definitely still ON schedule. A much needed win over LSU would validate that, although I'm not ready to say they'll definitely beat a wounded Tiger in Baton Rouge.

Regardless of next week's outcome, I like the direction the program is heading...certainly compared to the two programs I love to hate the most!

I still can't see LSU getting rid of Miles. It's (another) one of those "be careful what you wish for" situations (see Chavis). Too many programs are quick to get rid of a proven coach only to flounder for years trying to even get back to the competitive level they were at with the ousted coach.
