Guaranteed contracts are comical

It is actually an important ploy for Texas to go out and attract a new OC. If an OC accepts the job and gets a 3 year guarantee and Strong gets fired, the OC is sitting pretty with a great deal. This way a top flight OC is not worried about leaving his position to take a Texas OC job were they could all be out on the street after next season. It tells me they are truly thinking Strong gets 3 more years.

Same thing Chavis wanted at LSU. Miles was feeling the heat and he wanted a three year guarantee in case Miles was canned. They did not want to do that, so Chavis has a new deal at A&M with a guaranteed contract.

Right, but a school like Texas has no problem paying a 'buyout', etc if it comes to that. My point is its basically a non issue. It becomes a bigger deal with a lesser financial advantageous university

Also, if Strong gets fired then it won't be such a great deal because it means things aren't going well.
