    Best eats in San Antonio

Im taking the family on a little trip to Sea World tomorrow, and I need some help. Money has been scarce this summer since the peach crop kinda pooped out on us this year, but the wife and I decided that we would still take the boys on vacation, we would just have to cut costs as much as possible. We got free tickets to Sea World and Aquatica, a free hotel room, and a car that can get there on a single tank of fuel. We have picnic stuff to pack while at the park, but I still want to have some vacation experience, so we decided we could still enjoy a nice evening meal.

So, that being said, I was hoping you guys could recommend some good eating places near the airport, or not so near the airport, where we could get a good meal for a good price. I would prefer a good place that is an SA staple, not chain places. The wife is partial to Tex/Mex, and I am leaning toward a good German deli. And, in case you didn't catch it in the previous paragraph, Ide rather not spend an arm and a leg (feed 4 people for $40 or so).

    And, GO!

Lots of great places come to mind but none under that $40 cap. I'll keep thinking.

La Fogata is a good place just west and south of the airport.

Ernesto's. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. The service and food is amazing. I know it won't make it under that $40 mark for sure but you will enjoy.

This. The rest of the food is decent too.

There is a great place called Grumpys on nacogdoches rd a couple miles outside 1604. Tex/mex.

Chester's hamburgers is a San Antonio staple and there is one on 281 not too far from the airport.

Jacala, near trinity university...the only place I have to go everytime I'm in SA (best cheese enchiladas).

                    Reasonably priced as well.

Jacala X2. Off of Hildebrand and West Avenue. IMO Jacala blows La Fogata off the planet. Rolandos Super Tacos (off Hildebrand near San Pedro) used to be GREAT but I have not ate there in years. We were at Jacala two weeks ago coming back from a VA appointment.

Jacala's for texmex. Tip top cafe for chicken fried steak. They are right around the corner from each other.
