We went on a Saturday a few months ago, when we were in town. It was so good we went back on Sunday. The wait wasn't long. They have a lot of tables so the turnover is quick. The german apple puffed pancake was awesome. I had the southern eggs benedict with pulled pork and the corned beef eggs benedict with horseradish hollandaise. It's worth the wait.

Went to chesters on I10 for dinner tonight. It was good, but I didn't realize there was one just blocks from the hotel. It was a good burger. Had the bacon CB. Veggies seemed very fresh and the beef had a great flavor. The poppie seed buns were a nice twist. Would eat there again for sure. Thinking Alamo cafe or might venture over to Jacala tomorrow. Gonna be hitting Aquatica all day, so I may need some mexican food and a good margarita after that.

Alamo cafe is good, but La Fogata is where you want to go for good Mexican and insane margaritas!

Grumpys is cash money, get the carne guisada con wuevos y papas on Charlie Brown torts. Betos has the best empanadas. Taco Garage for puffy tacos. All = fat, dumb, and happy.

Glad to hear Chester's still makes a good burger. I ran the I-10 location for about 5 years back in the late 90's and I still crave the Green chile burger. The owners are good people.

We are big fans of Jacala. When we are traveling through S.A. and have time, that is where we go.

A little off the beaten path, but not that far off of I-10. And reasonably priced.

Well, you guys talked me into it. Drove 20 minutes to Jacalas. Food was great but service was a little less than desirable. Waitress was not terrible, just a little scattered and slow. Kitchen was fast though as food came out super fast. Margaritas were excellent.

You said you were on a tight budget and the best mexican food bang for the buck near you is Rodeo Jalisco in the Colonies Mall on Wurzbach just east of I-10 behind the HEB. Loud, no atmosphere, but the food is cheap and good. Really good, big breakfast tacos under $2, Good hearty and cheap plate dinners, best menudo I have found in San Antonio. It is always packed with locals but they have a lot of tables. CosmicCowboy gives it four jalapenos.
