A good rule of thumb is if his head is down feeding, and his horns are taller than his shoulders, he should be 30+.

Beam Length isn't everything though. Width, mass, and time length are more important in my opinion. My 29/30 axis out scores several 32inch bucks I've seen shot because of brows and cottles.

Both of these went 35" Good luck and smoke a giant. Like mentioned earlier, axis vitals are farther forward so wait until a slightly quartering away and tuck it in the crease. If broadside, straight in the crease or right in the back side of the shoulder would be your best bets.
