So brow tines don't count ? I have a buck at the lease that looks similar to that one on one side but has a brow tine

In my opinion, it looks like that buck broke off his main beam in that side, I wouldn't shoot because he looks young anyway (2.5).

That collar has a black trim so yeah it looks like it's cutting in the way the fur is ruffled but it's not cutting. That collar is very loose. The buck is close, but even if that sticker is an inch it looks wider than 13" inside spread.

I'm probably over thinking it. I wasn't even looking at the spread as much as the cull factor of it not being branched.

The ears look straight back in that pic. I'm not even sure it's over 13"

Looks to me like the buck is keeping his weight off his back left leg. Might be injured and that's what caused the "unbranched" antler on the opposite side. Probably need to take him out either way.

Can't believe someone would shoot a collared deer. Is it illegal no, but it obviously eats out of someone's hand and hangs around their house. All the deer in the woods and you choose to shoot this one.

I'd shoot that buck....a point has to be 1" so my vote is that is still an unbranched antler.

                    what he said

Do they collar deer for research?

I wouldn't kill the doe till the fawn is older, but would kill that buck just cus he's ugly!!

I'd shoot the buck, but I think the doe is more likely a part of a research project instead of a pet. My guess is that she was caught and collared to track her. The biggest reason I think that is that I find it hard to believe that someone was able to slip a collar on a wild animal, no matter how long they've been feeding her off their porch.

I'm with you. Plenty of deer to shoot without shooting a deer that someone likely bottle raised and hand feeds.

I called the hunter that sent me these pics. They have about 20 pics of the buck all with its left leg up in the air. I told them to take him out. I'm not for killing a pet deer even if its illegal to have one. It's not in captivity, but I don't know why someone would collar it. I guess to hopefully keep hunters from shooting it.

The buck is 1 1/2 - 2 1/2. Why are so many people saying to shoot him?

If he is in fact injured yes by all means shoot him. But if not, there have been extensive studies done that indicate that you cannot tell much at all about a bucks potential (or lack thereof) until at least 3 1/2.
