I don't think the pic of the doe is legit. The neck seems too small for the size of that doe, & if you zoom in there is an obviously black line.

I guide on a ranch that has a collared doe. If she were to get shot it would not be pretty. People collar deer for identification. Obviously someone raised it. Why would you shoot a deer that will not be scared of you and will make the best decoy for bringing in bucks. I'd love to have a pet around my feeders. She will calm the other deer.

I took one just as ugly as that one last year, he is legal. As for doe, never seen that before and yes it looks like a collar.

As long as that right brow tine isn't an inch long your good. So I think you're legal. Called tpw about this exact scenario and that's what they said.

There's a collard doe that hangs out in our area. She was bottle raised by the game warden! Don't shoot the does with collars!

If he is in fact injured yes by all means shoot him. But if not, there have been extensive studies done that indicate that you cannot tell much at all about a bucks potential (or lack thereof) until at least 3 1/2.
                Cause backstraps.

The biggest reason I think that is that I find it hard to believe that someone was able to slip a collar on a wild animal, no matter how long they've been feeding her off their porch.
My thought too. Maybe one of those radio collars?

I have a nubbin buck that my wife bottle fed and raised. He was born late last summer. Found it nearly starved to death and sitting on the side of the highway in front of our house. Momma may heve been hit by a car or poached. I would have no problem putting a collar on him. He's as tame as a pet dog. He is free to come and go as he pleases. If you think you can't put a collar on one then you never raised one. I wouldn't shoot a collared deer.

It's a trophy, like shooting a banded duck or a goose with a collar. Except this collar is actually big enough to disay on the wall. Lol

The buck would get it for sure, probably have a kid shoot him. They always want a deer with antlers.

                            Yes brow tines count,

but if the tine is less than 1 inch long then they don't count

A guy by my lease found a fawn once. Gw gave him permission to raise it until it got old enough to make it on its on. Gw told him to put a collar on it so no one would shoot it. He just couldn't pen up the deer. For about 2 or 3 years when I drove past you would see that doe running and playing with his dogs.

This is a pic of the one my wife raised last year. He still comes and visits. Most nights he will sleep in our back yard. I sure would like to introduce him to that collared doe!
