So I guess if you drop the car seat on the floor in the garage when putting it in the car, you should replace it? That might damage it?

If you drop it hard enough that you worry about the safety of your child while riding in it, then yes.

I think I would probably be more worried about aliens landing on my roof tonight

I do, and grandkids. But to say that a carseat that is an accident needs to be replaced is a bit over the top for me. Just manufacturer CYA, IMO. Sure, if there is a major accident and car is totaled, rolls over or whatever, replace it. But to say that if a carseat is in a car that is in a fender bender, needs to be replaced is overkill, just my opinion.

Glad i read this. My parked truck was hit a while back (no one in the vehicle), guess i should replace the kiddo seat.

If it is the kind with base+seat, do you replace one part or both?

Better do both. Jr.'s life could be hanging in the balance.

I'm more worried about my kid's car seats than aliens landing on my roof right now and I have never been in a car accident with them in my car. Js.

I posted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration guidelines but no one cares to read them. Oh well. The OP was in an accident that he could not drive away from. As per the NHTSA guidelines, he should replace his car seats.

See i get called a know it all for speaking my opinion and getting frustrated at answrring the same question munerous times. Then others make sarcastic comments poking fun at people who say manufacturer recommendations should be followed and that you can't be too careful when it comes to your kids in this regard, and it's okay...

Again, I'm not the one who has a problem with someone having a different opinion...

Stop wasting your breath... we've tried to get the point across but some don't care and it's all a conspiracy and only CYA for the manufacturers...

I'm out yall... do what you want...

Who cares of the cost... I am not Rich by any means but 300 or 600 or 1 million. Its MY kids, MY Flesh and Blood's safety.
I will risk my life. I am old, fat and past my prime but what ever the cost I will protect my kids.
I have 4 and have been though it all. Major medical, minor medical, cars wrecks, etc and the goal was always to get them home.
So other than the financial aspect why would you not replace them?

Thats funny, di you happen to notice that i posted 2 different links one of which actually says that these seats were tested multiple times WITH actual kd dummies in the seats and after all test the seats still functioned as designed?
Talk about not wanting to read them.
And the nurse keeps saying that i have a problem with others having a different opinion than mine when in fact i have said at least a few times that there is nothing wrong with buying new seats if it makes a person feel better. But i am supposed to believe that something is damaged when there is nothing to indicate it is.

BUY your new seats people i do not care but do not ask a person " WHY TAKE THE RISK? if they have a different opinion.

Really? Do you hire a 24 hour bodyguard for each kid?

I already told you. You cook your pizza in the plastic. I cannot trust your judgement.

If by "the nurse" you're referring to me (im unsure because i actually have a name and thats not it), that's a little disrespectful to refer to someone in that way... but anyway, my point was that you won't answer a simple question so let me spell it out... MOST of the time it won't fail, fine... but fact is, you can't see everything and "most of the time" does not equal "never" so the question why take the risk is a valid one that you've never answered. All you've said is that if you can't see anything wrong with your own eyeballs, there's no risk. We can agree to disagree on whether or not there is risk but let's just say for snickers and giggles, that no method of inspection with the naked eye is perfect and it won't catch every small defect or flaw... why take the risk?
