    Carseats after a wreck???

Is there something wrong with them after an accident? I've had 2 different ladies tell me to be sure and mention them to the insurance company? I've worked property claims for 15 years but know nothing about auto but had both the kids car seats strapped into my truck but praise God neither kid was in the vehicle durring the accident. I was hit hard enoug to bend the frame and snap the axle and drive shaft but the car seats look ok. Kids are still using them? They're plastic and nylon straps. Is there something I'm missing as to why they wouldn't be good now???

They definitely need to be replaced, they are made for one wreck. PD should pay for it by the negligent party.

This... there could be small structural damage that makes them unsafe...

You should get new car seats. They are plastic and integrity could be compromised with a wreck like you were in. Push the insurance company to pay for one as part of any settlement/claim. They will. I asked if they would be willing to sign a waiver that they will pay for any damages if it does not hold up in a future wreck and they said "send me the receipt for your new car seat and we will get you a check."

Our Britax seats are. Mention it to your insurance because some will actually pay for the car seats or a good portion of it.

I would guess the nylon straps stretch and permanently lose whatever give is designed into them. Seat belts do the same. If you have frame damage on these newer cars and trucks it takes a very qualified shop to bring back within manufacture's specs. I would rather replace the vehicle along with the baby seats.

Ours were also. The accident, child loaded or not, puts a strain on areas of the seat that make it secure. Definitely report it and swap them out. We upgraded to one that looks like NASA designed it!

This. Both are around $300 a piece. Look more like a NASCAR racing setup than a car seat to me. I will get some on order and let the adjuster know. Thanks!!

Fall in a safety harness and you get another.

Child car seat in a wreck? No brainer. Get another one.
