If I stay at the lease for three days it's with out a shower I use it and no trouble with deer getting close

Several yrs ago I watched a show and the guy was touching deer or something like that. He would coat his body in some type of grease and then roll in ash until he was completely covered in it. Claimed deer couldn't smell him period :-\.
I know deer have a heck of a nose but I don't believe they are even remotely close to a dogs.

Eventually, you will get busted if a deer is down wind. There's no such thing as "scent elimination". But I believe it does help and that it can be the difference between a deer hightailing it out of your AO in 2.5 Airborne seconds or hanging out a few more seconds thinking you're farther away than you really are.

Here is a video I took of a Kansas deer that unexpectedly came in behind me and is directly down wind. I apologize for the amateur videoing skills, but if you turn the volume up, you can hear him grunt at about 0:05 seconds. This buck is in my scent cone for about a minute and some change and at about the 1:02 mark you can see when he finally "gets it" and then begins his retrograde operations. This is right at daybreak with no rising thermals yet.

I don't use cover scents or other "gimmicks", but simply wash my body with the green soap and wash my clothes and equipment with Sport Wash. Occasionally, I'll use a "scent away" spray. Not fool-proof, but you CAN buy yourself a few extra seconds to get a shot off. YMMV.

If it's ur turn to kill something it don't matter bout the scent or the wind.

It is said that a deers nose is many times better than a dog. I believe it. I've seen them stop at a trail I made wth rubber boots on 24 hrs previous.

I have had very good success with scent killers, and other products in the past. but on some occasions I will get busted. I have heard that 80% of body odor comes from our breathe. So for the naysayers, did you do something for your breathe odor?

I also read that a deer can detect 7 different odors at one time, so although cover scents probably help, I doubt they are a total cure.

I think scent control is a combination of a lot of things:

                    1) No-scent shower. Do not take a hot bath. I love hot baths, especially when I am aching all over after miles in the country and I am sore. During a hot bath, you are actually sweating while bathing and this continues afterwards, though you may not notice it, and will cause major B.O.
                    2) No scent clothes washing
                    3) Store clothes in no scent bag or container
                    4) scent control the boots and store in no scent container
                    5) don't put hunting clothes and boots on until you get to hunt site and out of vehicle. Prevents odors from vehicle exhaust, stopping at the store for a bite, ect
                    6) breath odor prevention, which I need to work on
                    7) Spray bow, backpacks, bow release, boots, clothes, ect.. with scent killer
                    8) cover scent, if you believe in it
                    9) try not to break a sweat getting to the stand
                    10) Play the wind, which is hard to do where I hunt, because deer come from every direction.
                    11) take spare clothes, do a creek wash if nothing else available, between hunts.

These are just my opinion, of course. I think that we all progress in our hunting experience, we try to either improve our game or we just become "fair weather hunters" with putting little pressure on ourselves. For the time being I still trying to improve, but when I reach 70, I may be a fair weather hunter.

The best I have found is to use the powder from your corn bags and rub it all over your hunting clothes. Figured what the hay, they are coming to the corn anyway so why not use it as a cover up scent as well. First time I did it, I had a 3 or 4 year old 8 walk between the legs of the tripod I was in. He even bumped one of the legs. Since then, I have been a firm believer in using this.

I don't use descenters, just slap some Herd On a Stick on my boots and clothes. I had a buck walking behind me in the dark one morning. Didn't see him, climbed up in my stand, turned around and he was the bottom of my ladder staring at me. Scared the crap outta me, but it works well.

IMHO, the scent sprays do help. They aren't 100%, but I notice that I get busted more when I don't use them. I only spay my boots and sometimes my release if I've been sweaty when I'm shooting with it.
