Who Else HATES This Time of Year?!?!

I will get no sympathy from those of you who work outside - I sit behind a desk all day. However because of that, when I get home I like to spend as much time outside as possible. Less enjoyable when it is still over 90* right up to bedtime. Weekend afternoons are the worst - stuck in the house like it's Fargo, North Dakota in February. It's going to be hot through the weekend but looking for some relief next week. I always consider August 1st as the halfway point of the summer death march - we are almost there!

I love the long days of the summer, nothing more depressing than in winter when you go to work at night and come home at night. I love how I'm always surprised at how bearable camping can actually be in July. I love the lighter traffic in Houston when school's out. I love getting up early to fish, coming home and taking a nap, then waking back up again in time for lunch. I love listening to Paradise City while drinking my 5th beer in my floaty in the pool. I love crab and shrimp boils, and I love the way the AC feels when you come back inside after mowing the grass. I love listening to Texans' fans pitiful hope for a better season on sports radio...and listening to it crumble game by game in the first few weeks.

I literally get depressed in the summer....not like balled up in a corner of the house depressed...but just sluggish...and lack of ambition. Skip more workouts, don't wanna do much....
but I will say...this summer hasn't been TOO bad...last weekend was gorgeous...and I can't remember the last time I've said that in July.

It used to not bother me to be in the heat. When i hit around 50 I just can't take it physically or mentally like I did at a younger age.
I am from semi west Texas Abilene. The dry heat in West Texas in the evenings with a breeze even if it's 90-95 is way easier to take than anything East of say Ft Worth where you can cut the humidity with a knife and shoot skeeters with a 410. I haven't spent much time in deep Southeast Texas but from what I ve heard it's unbearable this time of year.
Come on September!!
