I think HS soccer in the valley may have a bit more competetive level compared to other parts of the nation. I was capt of the fb team & we had one of the best groups of sprinters and won district 3 years in a row. so I totally get what you are saying.

I too did not pay any attn to soccer back then, but pretty sure making the starting line up would have been tough from what I'm watching my son play now...my strong leg was pretty accurate, but being able to accuratly place a ball at anytime when it's needed with my weak leg??

My son had the talent to play any sport he wanted & I had some uncomfortable conversations with a couple of coaches who thought he was going to be playing for them. I said I would not force him to be in any sport that he did not have his heart in...I certainly did not thump him on the head and force him to play what I wanted him to. Yes, I was bummed at the time due to my own ego/selfish, but hindsight showed me I made the right decision. He's happy & that is all that counts. Still getting used to being a fan & adjusting to that, but all in all it has been a great experience.


I hope there are more ties just to upset the haters...

Soccer part 2

My HS brought in soccer my senior year and I never played the game. My 8 year old is in his 5th season and loves the game.

It took some getting used to but soccer is a great sport and I would rather my sons play it over baseball, football of basketball.
