U mean strategically placed hit? Unless u r talking about 90's football I don't know what u r referring to..
Field goal kickers are not athletes either!

Do love me some Zendejas though. Tony was my favorite. That little soccer player could kick!

I would say that he or LeBron James would make outstanding goalies if that was their lifelong sport of choice.

Soccer is huge in Nigeria, right? Hakeem was snatched up and taught to play basketball because he was such a huge athletic freak. Just imagine him in goal. he wouldn't have to jump like the little short goalies do. LOL.

He'd be terrible in goal. It would take him 10 seconds just to fall to the ground

I could see. For sure. Those r outstanding athletes no matter the sport. Lebron would've been a beast tight end!

As a coach of 3-8 year old soccer players right now I can honestly tell you that baseball is a game the least athletically gifted boys can play the easiest. I have many soccer players on my team that don't have a clue what is going on nor do they have the coordination to both walk and kick a ball at the same time, let alone run and kick. At this age they also play other sports like baseball. They tend to do very well in baseball as they only have to concentrate on one thing. They are also easier to hide in a baseball game. Put them in right field and they are out of your way. Put them on a soccer field that they stand out like a soar thumb. Granted, you were not talking about 3-8 year olds however it does address the comment about being terrible at other sports hence, go play soccer. The reason for the shift is pure and simple. Money and fame. The other sports have it here, soccer does not. However, go overseas and its a different ball game.

And to address comments like Kobe choosing basketball over soccer. The argument could be made that he wasn't good enough at soccer and therefore chose basketball. Generally we choose the sport we are best at. Growing up in Italy he certainly had access to soccer financial markets to make a lot of money if he chose. But, easier said than done. He clearly had a basketball IQ and game that decided his choice.

I've always found it interesting that in most American sports if you have a terrible season like the Texans did last year you are rewarded with the first pick in the draft, while in soccer you are kicked out of the league, sent to a lower division and have to earn your way back in the following season.

That's because in soccer you are allowed to "tie" as one person equated the tie to "participation ribbons". Sure doesn't seem like getting kicked out of the league for finishing in the bottom 3 is much of a participation ribbon. At least not as much as getting rewarded by getting to pick first

A freaking tie.... Ugh! Still can't get over it... Bradely should sit the next game with all his stupid freaking mistakes

I agree Bradley is having a poor WC showing ... often seems out of place, soft defense, and horrible turnovers at the worst time possible

unfortunately Klinsmann can't take him out and let Bradley "sit the next game". MB is one of the best mid-fielders we have and his 12 FIFA goals are more than the other 7 MF's combined. Sadly, it seems like he's been a no-show in Brazil.

although Bradley turned the ball over with 45 seconds to play, the defense fell asleep and let the man in the box get behind them. Cardinal rule in soccer, don't get beat in the box. We played hard for 94'30 sec., and went brain dead on the last 30 seconds remaining.

losing Jozy hurt big time as he was the 2nd leading goal scorer (23 goals) behind Dempsey (39 goals). Someone else must now step up and shine on the world stage. Without Dempsey, this team would likely be winless in WC play

Missing that point blank goal from in the box with goalie on the ground outside the box by Bradley was ridiculous. He had one player that cannot use his hands near the goal and he bounced it off him. Dude was to the left of Bradley right in the middle of the goal. he had the whole right side of the goal straight in front of him.

                            Ugh.
