You deal with stuff in all jobs but when your doing something you actually want to do, the motivation is there to shrug off all the negativity. Good luck...

I met a traveler from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert... Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal these words appear:
My name is Ozymandius, King of Kings,
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Cops will throw you under the bus to get ahead too. There are some shady people in this line of work as well, and not all of police officers are choirboys. The reason I am saying this, is I don't want you to enter the field of law enforcement with a preconceived notion that the team comraderie means that everybody has your back at all times, they don't. Sometimes it's subtle, sometimes not so much.
"Hey Sarge, are we supposed to do it that way? Because I saw Daniel do it the other way...."
"Hey Captain, are we supposed to sign both forms, because I know Daniel only signs that one form."
You'll have BS like that with at least some of the people you work with at HPD or wherever you go. I guess the difference is, you'll be doing work you like, but trust me, the backstabbers are there too.

I understand the backstabbers are everywhere, but like you said I'll at leat have a passion for my work. And just to clarify for any other cops reading this, I am not doing this for glory. In fact, I expect more indifference and spite from people than I do thanks and gratitude. That does not bother me. I am doing it because I feel like God put us all here to make a difference, and this is the best way for me to do that. My dad is a cop, and I have seen what it can do to you if you let it, but I have the best family in the world and know they will help me through the hard times. I'm not looking for easy, I'm not looking for praise, and I'm not looking for my name in the paper. If I can keep just one innocent life from being lost because of the evils in this world, then I have made my difference.
