I've found morels on public land in Wise County but only in one area.

I found this Hen of the Woods in 2014 on public land. It weighed about 15 lbs.

Wonder if we have them right now in the central part of Louisiana ? Found some Oysters ones last year but they were not that good to me and I love mushrooms.

Think it's early around here in NTX.. I have the best luck around 1st of April but I'll be watching this warm spell for sure

I had forgotten these goodies. I worked for a while at Notre Dame and the folks were talking about these so I went and found enough for a small meal. They were great and my one and only time to try em out. Where I hunt there are lots of mushrooms mainly in the heavy wooded areas with limited sun. Central Tx so doubt these are around. Too far south?

I found over 200 last year. It's been on my mind lately, probably go look tommorow.

Thanks for posting that pic! That gives me a good size reference so I know better what I'm looking for. I know I've seen these things before, just can't remember any specifics... I'll be consciously more aware from here on out!

Those are really large. You might find some the size of a thimble. Most are 2-3 inches tall.

Wow, that's sure enough a big one. That does it, I'm for sure going to look tommorow.
What county did that come from, Jason?

The wife and I found 38 today. March 12th is the earliest that I've ever found them, been hunting them since 1987.

Took my two boys out this afternoon outside DFW and crushed them. Found 62 which is best I have ever done in Texas

What kind of habitats are y’all finding them in Texas?
