The benefit I see in the AR platform is the ability to have multiple calibers on one receiver.

I can build a 223 with the stock and trigger that I want, then have 300BO, 6.8, 6.5 204, 22lr, 243...etc. one lower multiple uppers.

I do love my Tikka 270 though.

I've wanted one for a while. Every time I get enough money saved up i just can't seem to pull the trigger so to speak because I end up spending the money elsewhere. Dang toddlers are expensive.

          Still don't.

Or any guns, bows, knives, lye, duck tape, root, plastic, shovels or nothing like that.

I do and plan on owning more. When varmint, predator and hog huntin you might find yourself in a situation where you have multiple targets or say you miss.....you can keep shootin. Plus I like owning one because some people don't think I (or anyone else) should own one. But I can own an AR....... and I will.

But you carry armor piercing rounds in case you need them. I lost all of my ARs a few months ago though

This is one of the best reasons of all.

Back when I had them I had to have one open sights, one with night vision, one with a standard Eotech scope, one with a cheap red dot, and one with a good Vortex red dot...and then a few more extras. And at least 10,000 rounds of ammo.

Never had one, doubt I will

Not me. Got a bad taste with the reliability of the early models. Understand that I was first issued a M1 Garand, then a M14. I can remember firing those with mud and gravel in the action and never missing a beat.
Then I got the M16. That POS would either jam for no apparent reason, or you would bump the mag release, drop the mag without knowing it, and then you have a single shot at the worst possible time.
I am sure they are much better now but I prefer my M1 carbine or a M14.

Never had the itch for one.

Every red blooded American should own a black rifle with at least 6 thirty round mags and 3 to 4 thousand rounds of which 1/3 should be armor piercing.
Unless of course they are one of them sissy ol liberals.

This. Shotgun is the best home defense weapon you can have. If you need to defend your property against an invasion, then yea, my vote is for the AR. LOL. Or land mines, or whatever.

I trained with one and carried one for years. I see no practical application for one personally though. I have plenty of other guns I enjoy shooting more than I ever did an AR. I just don't enjoy shooting them all that much. I'm actually much more comfortable with a mini-14, but probably because I carried one longer.

If I have time to spend at the range, I usually take my muzzleloader and tweak loads. Keeps me busy and entertained for hours. Put two through the same hole at 100 yards on Saturday. Now that's fun.
