I honestly think you missed , likely shot over him especially at 30 yds

No way I missed, I had blood and hair on my arrow.

Broadhead had white hair on it.

That spot only has brown hair.

White hair is on the belly.

Looks like scars at the top of his neck and the top of his shoulder too. Maybe you did a pass through on his neck.

I wish I could find the article, and the pics of the deer in Whitetail,or Petersons..Either way,It was a deer that had a scar in that general vicinity, and the hunter was lucky enough to get him during rifle season…Really good story, and I know some o the guys on here read it…There's a small void on a big bodied deer that made it possible, depending on the angle of the shot.

I would think that a full pass through at spot indicated would have more than "a little blood on the shaft" It would be covered.

My initial thought was brisket or backstrap. If I see him next year I'll shoot him and give him a good autopsy.

And people wonder why you need an AR with 30 round mags to hunt deer! Duh!

When you kill it. Look for scars on areas with white hair and your riddle will be solved with certainty.

or a 300 win mag at 30 yards.

even if the broadhead didnt open, if you hit him in that spot with a pass through he would be dead.
