I think it was the last week of October at last light, I shot at a buck at 30 yards from a 15 foot ladder stand. I heard the "thwack", it sounded like a 2X4 hitting a rib cage. The deer wheeled left and ran back into the thick stuff. Never found a blood trail and the deer never came back to that feeder after that. Fast forward to this weekend and we pull trail camera cards from the same feeder, I'm 80% certain this was the same buck. To me, it looks like he has a scar right behind his right shoulder, halfway up his body. In the other photo with him facing the camera, it looks like he has a scar on his left shoulder, and the angle is lower than the other shoulder, which would be the correct angle for the elevated shot. If these are scars from my arrow, why isn't this deer dead?? Bow specs:
Destroyer 340, .400 FMJ's with 100 grain 1 3/8" Grim Reapers, about 277 fps.....BTW, the arrow was stuck in the ground, full pass through with a fatty material on the arrow shaft and blood on the vanes and a little blood on the shaft, short white hairs on the broadhead. I'm unsure if the broadhead opened on impact because when I pulled the arrow from the 3" of dirt it penetrated, it closed the blades again. These are a little pixelated thanks to Tapatalk but IMO, there's definitely a scar on his right shoulder. Here's the pics, and see post #11 for a closeup:
