I love to fish, but if it came down to it, I'd be selling my boat and tackle. Probably would have more money to spend on hunting if I did.
Thanks. We do pretty good on swordfish.Last edited by Chase This!; 01-10-2014, 09:37 AM.

I am a "dedicated" hunter and a "casual" fisherman. Before I got into hunting, I loved to fish. I grew up fishing, not hunting. All freshwater lake bank fishing. I wasn't hard core, but we'd go fishing often enough. I now maybe fish 4 or so times a year, and it usually isn't planned. Hunting on the other hand is planned out, etc.
This spring, my goal is to plan a few more fishing trips. We'll see if that pans out. My favorite planned trip was the white bass run where we went kayak fishing the tributaries north of Livingston. That is some fun fishing.
Also loved hitting the trout that they stock this time of year in the county parks.
Best fun I had was whittling a yellow bass floating lure and catching a 10" yellow bass on it. Nothing like catching a fish (any size) on a hand made lure.
So... if I had to choose, I'd probably stick with hunting year round than fishing year round. I get tired of eating fish.

I hunt from October to January and fish March to October. I love to bay fish but living in North Texas only get down 1 or 2 times a year. Rest of time is on Richland Chambers mostly from my kayak. Took boat out 1 time last year, the rest was from the yak. I found kayak fishing very enjoyable. I find myself closer to nature in the yak compared to the boat, which is the same reason I like bowhunting from a treestand. Luckly, I can do both and not have to choose.
