I'm more serious about fishing since it's a year round and very public - no strings attached - Outdoor activity.
As it is with hunting, I have personal goals set within the fishing world, and pursue these goals each time I'm on the water.
I hunt the flats for fish - poling along and sight casting spin, cast & fly tackle.
I roam the National seashore on the hunt
Offshore anytime I can
And hammer fresh water like a foo too!
Which also includes building my own rods and tricking my reels out with upgrades.
I haven't met a form of fishing and or species I wouldn't attempt to catch. Surf cast, kayak deployment, live, artificial, troll, jig, plug, spin, cast, trotline, soak, gig....you name it, I'm ATE UP WITH FISHING!
When you fish....it's all fair chase and very much like hunting to me. Must put in the time to dial in those days that memories are made of. I mix my fishing up a lot....which means I will never get tired of it. So many bodies of water still left to explore, each has it's own challenge, technique and prime time to work it once the basics are understood. Never a dull moment to me!
Bowfishing takes the top spot over deer for me without a doubt. I have two bowfishing bows and have more money tied up in each of them than I do my Hoyt Spyder hunting bow.
Im actually heading out to try and stick some big ol buffalo this weekend.
I haven't been rod and reel fishing in so long I'd probably be dangerous trying to cast one
i fish from january to october and hunt from october to january. I mainly bass fish and fish alot of tournaments. Tournaments are my passion, i am a competitive person and to old and out of shape for sports so i fish tourneys. I fished my first tourney of the year last saturday, it was cold and brutal!!
You eat those? I have eaten gar they are good. What about carp?
Heck no.
I wouldn't be opposed to trying it on bit, in fact I want to make some gar balls. But when we go out, it is for up to 6 hours sometimes. And during that 6 hours we just toss the fish under our platform to get them out of the way. As a result they sit in bloody slime water for quite a while, often in the summer heat. The coons and buzzards enjoy them though. Some gar would be nice to toss on the grill whole
love fishing but don't even want to consider giving either one of them up.
Haven't really done any gulf fishing but wish I had someone who could get me on some trout and/or reds.
