    I've had one for the better part of the year. Best purchase I've made in quite awhile. My Dad ended up buying one after using mine, once.....

          A very good sharpener. As said above, practice with a knife you're willing to sacrifice to the learnin' curve. Get your edge quickly with the course belt, then go to the polishing belt for most of it and you can't go wrong. Just remember to stop your pull when the tip "gets to" the belt......don't pull the tip all the way across or you'll round it off.

          On broadheads, take off the guide and rotate the head forward, then do your broadheads free hand while on a shaft....and remember about that tip thing. I liked mine so much I even took the blade off my dang'd mower once I had everything else around here done.

                  The thing that kept me from getting one is that I heard the knives sharpened by it don't hold an edge very well.

                        Several grits of stone...
                        A good steel...
                        A good strop...
                        Several grits of polishing rouge...

                        Or you can get a worksharp and the belts...

                        The learning curve for the worksharp is much less than that of a stone/steel/strop; not to say stone/steel and strops don't have their place because they do. They don't remove too much metal unless you get carried away. In fact, most people can't hold a good angle on a stone and end up removing more metal to correct mistakes or end up with an asymmetrical edge (which isn't altogether bad either).

                        The worksharp is a slackbelt sharpening system though; so if you don't like a convex edge it is not the sharpening system for you. 99.9% of people don't know the difference anyway...

                        If you REALLY want to know; sharpen a knife on a stone and another on the worksharp. Then look at both edges with a jewelers loupe; you will quickly see the differences.

                        Keep a good stone and/or a steel for touch ups in the field; best of both worlds.

                          I got mine last Christmas.... Was skeptical at first, I too rounded off the tip of a knife then realized as I pull the knives through the sharpener you must keep a straight angle. If you try and stay with the angle of the blade you will round off the tip, pull the knife straight through the sharpener!

                          Great sharpener, can't imagine not having one after using it for a year now b

                            It's not about the sharpener it's about which angle/guide you use. Use the right one and it'll hold an edge just as long as any sharpener.
