Hogs are a blast to hunt and they can make some pretty good eating! There are plenty if poor people that would love the free meat. So, I don't understand intentionally leaving them for the coyotes; who will feed on them and then ruin the deer hunting much more than the pigs will, by killing deer. That's just retarded thinking - no offense. If you don't want them, call a local cowboy church and they're usually good about picking them up and distributing the meat to the poor/needy. At least the ones around here are.

There's not much more exciting hunting than stalking a 300#+ boar in the moonlight and shooting him from 5 yards off your knees! A lot more fun and better practice than shooting a paper and foam targets on a course with a bunch of people that look like they just left a yuppie golf course! Lol!

Intentionally wounding an animal, no matter the species or the reason, is the most unethical and retarded thing I hear on the GS. NO damage they do justifies that kind of action. Sure, kill them all; but do it in an ethical and responsible manner that doesn't create undue suffering. No wonder the antis keep gaining ground when "hunters" (and I use that term loosely) engage in this sort of behavior and, then, BRAG about it on the www.

Wow. I guess I'm supposed to feel like a real low life because I like to hunt pigs. Also eat said pigs.

I hate hogs. Lease I was on last year was infested with them. Lease manager had us on a limit of five hogs per paid hunter. You could get that in the first five minutes after feeding one sendero. We did a charity hunt for TPWD a couple years back before Thanksgiving and shot 32 hogs in one morning between four hunters. They were donated to needy families in the area. We tried to make it a yearly thing but lease manager was one of hog lust affair dudes you speak of.

no sir not from everywhere. on my place we have one pond and they seem to concentrate around it at night. they do roam the whole property though so you just got to be at the right place at the right time. this year they were coming into my bow stand about 30 minutes after dark so i just stayed late a few nights and stabbed a few. if you have a spot that they frequent, throw some hand corn and sprinkle it with hog wild. after a few days to a week you will have you a spot to shoot hogs.

Yet, by your own admission you are pleased by their suffering I think these answers about sum it up on what the GS thinks.

I re-read what you said and it said "I am pleased I hit them back" that's about the same as hitting them back on purpose to me. Bottom line you still like to watch something suffer, sick !

Well it was early bow season and I hadn't seen any deer but I kept hearing hogs down by the creek so once it got late I got out of my tripod and went down to see if I could get on them. Sure enough I was able to but they ended up busting up out of the creek. I just set tight where I was and they started out about 60-70 yards out away from me. I put on a little bit of a stalk and closed the gap to about 40 yards but they were on the move and I couldn't keep up with out getting busted. I circled them and I was waiting on a well used trail and sure enough here they come. It was a very fun hunt being on the ground and going after them on their terms.
I ended up scoring on one but I missed my first shot at 45 yards. They froze when I shot and I was able to get reloaded and bammmm. One didn't leave when the rest did.
I am not a dedicated pig hunter but I have to say that was a very fun hunt.

Thats the only way I hunt hogs. Sit and listen....put the bow mount kill light on.....play the wind and go after them.
You can get 100 lbs or smaller all day but the big ones.....they are the real challenge.

I kill them on sight, never give a pig a pass.

Yes we specifically hunt them with rifles, bows, night vision, whatever. And I will use cameras on feeders to specifically target them.

We eat a few, but most are left as coyote and buzzard food.

Where i live it is 75% or more farmland, and nearly 100% agricultural land. They are a huge problem, destroying crop land and pastures. I don't intentionally gut shoot them, but if we get into a group and some of the running shots land farther back than you want. But we try to kill every single one we see.

Just an example of how bad they are, this past June-July we killed over 100 pigs out of one big oats patch. And it didn't seem to make a dent.

I grew up in a part of Texas that does not have hogs and hunting wild hogs always intrigued me. I had been on a couple of hunts in places with lots of hogs that were "practically sure things"...never saw a hog. I finally got on a lease here in East Texas this year and have been getting tons of pictures of hogs so my hopes have been high. I hunted October and half of November with my bow but never got a shot at one and finally shot one with a gun a couple weeks ago. I was just as excited about that first pig as I have been over some nice bucks I have killed...maybe more! Now I just need to get one with my bow. I am glad we have them on my lease but if I was farming or running cattle I see how they are a problem.

I wish I had some hogs on my place.. I've been hunting 2 times at others places and seen them.. I like the ideas of being able to go hunting and shoot stuff besides deer cause I only get 5 deer tags a season.. I've had one pig on our place running around for 2 years now only seen him in the trail camera..
