    Interesting.

How many of you that say you love the pigs actually own the land that you hunt them on.

I say that because to me when its more than just my feeders and corn the pigs are eating and it becomes my hay field and crops and my land it's a different deal in a way. I own and I have had a lease. The pigs on my lease I didn't worry so much about. If they didnt' destroy my feeders I didn't really care so much. But when its something that is effecting my income that I need to make a living I will hunt down every single one I see on my property.

Not to say I don't enjoy hunting them, but I could do without having to on my property. I'd rather it be a problem I helped someone else out with than me having to stay up all night hunting them and repairing the damage they do to my fields. I used to really love it. But I don't get excited about the idea of going hog hunting anymore. But that might be because I have a lot of exotics to hunt instead.

That's just retarded thinking - no offense. If you don't want them, call a local cowboy church and they're usually good about picking them up and distributing the meat to the poor/needy. At least the ones around here are.
Maybe your area us different or you have better friends.
We always had people wanting a hog next time we shot one. Most of the time, they either didn't have time to mess with it and/or they wanted it delivered and processed for them.
After about 20-30 calls to people who wanted a hog and only 2 times that someone actually came and got it, we just quit calling.

Now we still shoot everyone we see. Sometimes we clean them, sometimes we peel at least the backstraps out on bigger ones, but most of the time, the buzzards get a free meal.
Coyotes aren't a big problem in our area, but if they have dead hogs to eat, they're not hunting fawns either.

I've had one pig on our place running around for 2 years now only seen him in the trail camera..
                  Only 5 deer?!?

In 2-3 years the fun of hog hunting wears off.
It's not fun when you can't drive to a feeder without hitting your head on truck ceiling because of all the hog roots.
It's not fun when you have to replace your $400 feeder because they knocked it over and smashed it.
It's not fun when you have to spend several hundred dollars on hog panels to fence off your $400 replacement feeder.

I've noticed over the years that the people who want hogs either don't own the land and/or don't have hogs yet.

I've yet to meet a landowner that wants hogs on his property.

I love to hunt and eat hogs. My wife and I, along with some friends from NC, drive from Virginia to south Texas to bowhunt pigs (and javelina) every year. Since I don't have access to land for hunting in Texas, I have to pay to hunt. I realize there are pigs on pubic land but I don't have time to scout out these areas. There are pigs in NC, but fortunately none in the area where my family land is.

I love hog meat. It's free and good practice. As far as shooting something and leaving it lay I think is pitiful. That is my opinion. I really dislike when people say they shot one but left it laying. I think that should be a fine from TPWD. I have 5 kids and we have eaten a hog over 350 lbs. and it tasted the same as a small one after a peroxide soak on the meat, so I dont buy the story of them being to big to eat. I have had folks call me and I met them to take hogs they did not want after they shot them.

I know that if I was a farmer/rancher I would hate having hogs on my property, since we do not run cattle and do not rely on the farming that we do, I like the fact that we have many targets running around.

I'm a land owner. I want hogs on my property.

                          Now you have met one.

I enjoy pigs for what they are, extra targets of opportunity. They are pretty dang good eating too.
