I am a hunter. I've taken big game with compound, recurve, longbow, crossbow, shotgun, pistol, rifle, modern muzzleloader, cap and ball muzzleloader. I enjoy them all. I see no need to restrict my self to one method. My longbow is my favorite and I spend more time hunting with it than all the others combined.

For instance, last year, I decided to bow hunt the tree line on a ROW, after rifle season had already started up. Well I'll be dang if I didn't have a super nice 8 come out and stop in the middle of the ROW at 100 yards. If I would have had my rifle, chances are, I'd have that buck on the wall right now. Learned my lesson.

You just never know when that buck of a lifetime will walk out in front of you, just out of bow range. I hunt too hard to let something get by me that easy.
But that the great chess game! why not try and beat that buck and get him with in your comfort zone if you see him several time with in 150-250 yards?

That buck is beat as soon as he hits the ground no matter the weapon

I am a hunter no matter what. I hunt with my bow, rifle, pistol, and muzzleloader. If hunting with a gun makes me less of a hunter then so be it. I have limited time and funds to hunt some years so I am going to do what it takes to get it done.

If I hunted on a lease, in a box overlooking a feeder pen I would most likely agree with this.
But since I don't, I'll have the 30.06 and hope to get a shot opportunity, rough country here

How often do you get to hunt? What's your hunting tactics? Sitting 18-20 yards over a feeder, watching your watch instead of taking in gods creation?

Well I'm gone 250-300 days a year with work. When I get to hunt, that's precious time for me. I don't have time to try and pattern a buck in the middle of the season. I have most does patterned as I've been hunting it for sometime, but if a buck comes out within 60 yards of me, you can bet ill blast him with a rifle. And on top of that, feel waaaaay more proud of that rifle buck than any bow deer over a feeder. There, I said it.

Didn't want this to turn into that kind of thread, but think about the differences here. I bet a lot more people would pull out their rifle.

18-20 yards over a feeder is way more fun than 200 yards from a feeder in a little house with windows.

The last two years it was near impossible to get within bow range of a deer in central Texas. Did I switch....NOPE. I don't give up at anything I do. I guess I am more of a sport hunter for deer. If I want meat I slaughter the pigs, with a bow. They eat better anyway.

I guess the more you've posted dictates just how good a hunter you are. Oh and congrats on the 260 animals you've killed with a bow. You obviously have put in your time. I applaud you!!

I don't have a little house with windows. I have lock on stands and natural brush.

                            No feeder either...

I do agree though, if I did hunt over a feeder, the bow shot at 18-20 would be much better, but then again, if I had a feeder, why would I switch to a rifle when I could just sit over the hole, knowing when they're coming

I primarily bow hunt, however, this year I have a goal to rattle up a buck and shoot him with my 30-30 marlin open sight!

Ah, so this is really your platform to voice your anti-feeder beliefs? So you are not a Bowhunter. We get it.
