Bow only. I haven't broke out the smoke pole in 15 years. I wouldn't have a problem doing it if needed though!

Haven't took a deer with a rifle since 2008 and I told myself, Self that was too easy! I am all for a rifle if my shot is beyond 250 yards, anything under that I feel like I can beat the deer and get them with 20-35 yards. Once you venture into the 250+ yard mark that takes skill to make the shot. To each his own tho, as long as your huntin idc what ya use, But I don't own a deer rifle, just my 22 and 20ga.

Whatever i choose to use, i will use. I hunt for myself. I can show you any picture of a dead deer, and it will look the same.
I have killed many animals with a bow, and with a rifle. A dead deer is a dead deer is a dead deer is a dead deer. I am a hunter. Rifle, bow, knife, cannon, whatever. I kill stuff....

Bow only all year. There have been a few seasons with no meat in the freezer. Last time I shot a rifle I ended up tracking an axis doe a long ways and that was the end of rifle hunting. Not blaming the gun but the fact that I had to track so far and I did not get excited pulling the trigger.

Well.......my 7 Mag isn't sighted in, probably won't even mess with it till after the season (needs new glass) and it kicks too hard anyway........ I was disappointed to get "only" a 400yd shot on a pronghorn with my .284 at the first of the month, so maybe will try some long-range varminting with it in South Texas in December.
What has become fun again, is a return to traditional archery with a recurve. Been whitetail/pig hunting with it until I got my old Mathews Q2 back last week. Then it was like doubly rewarding, increased fun with trad bow AND reacquainted with an old friend in the Q2. So, I think I'll hunt with the recurve as long as I can this year, then switch to the compound later in the season as the ranges increase.
As long as we're at it, can we tackle other interesting topics like High vs Low Fence, or 9mm vs .45?

If I can't make a shot beyond 35-40 yards on the stand I'm hunting, I'll carry my bow. If there is a possibility for a shot beyond 40-50 yards, I'm taking the rifle.
For instance, last year, I decided to bow hunt the tree line on a ROW, after rifle season had already started up. Well I'll be dang if I didn't have a super nice 8 come out and stop in the middle of the ROW at 100 yards. If I would have had my rifle, chances are, I'd have that buck on the wall right now. Learned my lesson.
You just never know when that buck of a lifetime will walk out in front of you, just out of bow range. I hunt too hard to let something get by me that easy.
