Ted Nugent just proved that camo is pointless

Some of you may have read my thread from watching buck commander and seeing them take a buck wearing a Santa suit. Well I just saw Ted nugent kill a buck out of a bow stand wearing blue jeans and a normal work jacket. The only camo he had on was his hat. I don't think I'll ever worry about wearing camo again

I hardly ever wear camo in a blind.

He was actually in a deer stand. Now I'm not saying good camo doesn't help when you're doing a spot and stalk, but nothing beats stealth

If a person kills something without camo, does that "prove" that camo is pointless?

I personally think that movement is a huge key but I also feel that camo disguises a lot of movement or mistakes.

Only camo I wear is my cold weather camo, other than that it's jeans and a black shirt.

I think you should still cover your face. You may give the animals nightmares

Camo is just cool. Who cares if it isn't necessary.

If it gives me a SLIGHT advantage I'm using it, and I don't think anyone can prove it doesn't give a SLIGHT advantage.. IMO it def does not give a huge advantage

I think that he proved the use of camo is not the be all end all way to disguise yourself. I personally don't think I'll ever wear camo hunting again, but I guess I need to change "pointless" to "unimportant" to keep people from getting upset with me. I apologize in advance for any hurt feelings

If your in a box/ground blind, its obviously not necessary, and maybe not so much if you're high enough in a tree, but if you're less than 20 ft up, or on the ground, I think it's to your advantage to at least have something on to break up the silhouette. Whether it be a striped/plaid shirt, or something along those lines. Camo isn't all that necessary, but I like to wear it and it will break up your silhouette.

As long as they don't pick up your movement, you could probably wear anything.

All you have to do is look at how Fred Bear, Saxton Pope, Glen St. Charles and all the legends hunted to know that camo is highly over rated. It's all about marketing, folks!

Camo is effective in certain circumstances but not necessary in every hunting situation. Hunting old wise mature bucks where the slightest movement will betray you, you better take every advantage you can, and camo is one of them. Ted usually shoots the first animal that presents a shot and very rarely is it a mature "beast". The older they get the wiser they get and are not as easy to take. Grounds blinds are another situation. I never wear camo in a ground blind unless it is cold and my camo is the warmest thing I have. Movement and scent are the most important things to control while hunting. But like iamntxhunter said, camo is cool.

                            Two things for me.
Most of the best cold weather gear that is made out of quite material is camo.

Years ago hunting public land I noticed I could see a hunter 100 yards away, como or not.
When they turned their heads their face would flash white like someone shining a light at me.
If I'm really trying, I do something with my face and hands

In BP today looking at really old Trad hunters pictures. These guys were wearing suits, ties, and nice felt hats.
With that said I do own a ghillie suit....
