You wouldn't think so seeing some of the bucks that have been killed here on TBH, low fence too. Seems like there's a Booner hiding behind every bush.

I remember the spacing between the pedicals was 5 inches or so.

It was my first "REAL" encounter with a true monster buck

HAHA... and yes that was me over 20 years ago.
Thanks for sharing. Awesome buck. Ill bet before all the hunting pressure that there were some other monsters roaming the hill country.

WOW. I'm blown away with the numbers. Texas does have some big'uns.

Sure 200"'s aren't behind every tree, but just because they're not on the Internet doesn't mean they don't exist.
Id say there is more than folks realize. I know of a few ranches that kill some HUGE free range bucks that never enter them. Kill em, Take em to the taxi and keep the horns till the taxi needs em, and pick em up and take em home when they are done and folks never hear about them.

I agree with this.. Many people would rather keep it I themselves and keep their ranch off of the radar from other people (who might offer more for it than they can) and keep their names out of the book, after it's just your name a picture and a scoring sheet in that book..

Yep. I know folks that do exactly this. Contest and book entries draw the attention of poachers and drive up lease costs due to higher demand in the area. More than one group has spent years and tons of $ managing a place only to have someone come in with deeper pockets and swipe a ranch right out from under them after a few high placings in muy grande and Los cazadores. It is a small world, and people like to run their mouths.

A lot more. I know where 3 net book typicals are hanging now all killed by the same hunter in the 90s and 00s. Low fence stx and no protein.

I remember seeing a picture of a typical 12 point in the Hagerman photo album back in 1999, and was pretty sure they said he scored 200"...it was shot by a guy about 400 yards from the check in office...I wonder why it is not on that list, it was a monster...

Yup. I know of a 196" net typical 12pt that was killed by a taxidermist buddy of mine on a ranch in the panhandle that the general public knew 0 about. And still don't.
                          And never will.
