It's because most of them are now behind a high fence. Not sayin good or bad, just is what it is.

IMO, if you kill a 180 typical low fence anywhere in the state you've truly accomplished something.

More over, there's no telling how many are killed and never entered with any "records keeping" organization.

All of the above makes it very hard to pinpoint it down to a number.

what if you kill a 205 deer on free range that escaped a high fence operation. How do they know which is which?

Interesting, that since 1973 there have only been 2 entries. I figured with all the protein and good plots, we'd have some bigger deer.

sure, but Texas doesn't have lots of free ranging 200" gross typicals. Nontypicals, yes.

There are so many deer that are shot and never entered in a contest. Not everyone wants to draw that attention to their ranch or lease. A low fence lease I was on a few years back had a 187 10 point typical come off it and that deer wasn't entered in anything.

Sure 200"'s aren't behind every tree, but just because they're not on the Internet doesn't mean they don't exist.

I believe this deer from Brady from late 1800's was one of the largest non-typical in the state

I was allowed to help official score the buck back in 1990. The buck has a monster typical frame that if he didn't have any NT points would have netted above the Jordan Buck. So has you can see he has several NT points which leads to some major deducts. The buck to me seemed more like a northern buck than anything from the Hill Country. I remember the spacing between the pedicals was 5 inches or so.

It was my first "REAL" encounter with a true monster buck
