I feel your pain. After my Sunday morning experience at Home Depot I'm not sure I'll ever go back to one. Sunday morning at 8:20 a.m., me and every other person in the store who arrived at 9 when they opened are trying to check out at the same time. No registers with a live person. Only self-checkout registers open. Only 3 of the 4 were working. The first machine wasn't reading one guys credit card, the next machine was stopped waiting assistance because the guy had a long flourescent light fixture that couldn't be placed in the bagging area, and the last was the one we were using. Though I had dutifully noted the SKU numbers for the 10 total and $2 worth of nuts, bolts, and washers I was buying, mere customers cannot enter such lofty things into the "self" checkout machine—it must be done by an employee. (And I later learned that they don't even use the SKUs if you have them; their computer as a menu system with drawings of the parts.) Then three more people got in line. The employee "working" the self-checkout was about to go on tilt, so she called a supervisor. After getting the employee and the light fixture moved to an actual register and then scanning the other guy's credit card and the main desk, she turned to me and demanded to know what I needed. For a few milliseconds I thought about telling her, but then decided that my 6 year just wasn't ready for the conversation we'd have to have if I did so.

Never again for me and Home Depot and self checkout.

I'm right there with on this, I hate those self checkout stations! A real Manager would have and should have opened up a lane and if he didn't have a cashier on duty, checked you out him or herself! I'd for sure be calling the corporate.

I would have done the same. I refuse to use self checkout.

For that exact reason, thats why if I can buy from a small town business I will, even if its costs more. I think about customer service before I think about price, but I do live in a small town with small businesses.

When I lived in College Station going to college, I would only grocery shop at HEB because the customer service was far superior to Walmart or Kroger.

It only took one trip to the Wal Mart in Laredo to realize the self checkout isle was my friend.

That is one of the worst Kroger Stores in my opinion. I go up to the one on 518 near Masters road. They always seem friendly and have great customer service.

I totally refuse to use self check out! I will stand in line with just 1 item just to make the managers mad. When they start giving discounts for checking yourself out, then I might use them. Until then, they earn their money.

I personally like the self check out but can understand your frustration with that much in the cart. I don't believe I would have left without it after 2 hours of loading the cart just to prove a point though. That's just me.

I hate Kroger. We spent thousands of dollars a month with the Cleburne store until I had a bad experience two weeks ago. After several corporate emails this was thier final response:
                              Dear Mr. Gillentine:

Thank you for contacting Kroger. I'm sorry to hear that your shopping experience has not met your expectations. We understand that you have a choice in where you shop, and understanding your frustration, respect your decision in where to do so going forward.

                              Regards,

                              Auther
