    Kroger rant.

A photo of the shopping cart we left sitting at Kroger after they refused to check us out. They said we would have to use the self-checkout because it was late. We asked for the manager and he said the same thing, that we would have to use the self checkout! Seriously? Would you run all the items in that cart through the self checkout? This was a Friday night at a Kroger Signature store.

Two hours of shopping were wasted. I bet it took them a lot longer to put back all those items than it would have to open a register and check us out. If the store is open, a cashier should be available. To top it off, I posted about the entire encounter on Kroger's Facebook page and someone posts that we are horrible people, that we were causing employees to miss time with their families. On another post they said we were the reason prices were so high and that people were starving in other nations.

I don't think I am wrong in expecting a grocery store to have a cashier available. I also don't think I should have to check out all those items myself.

We went and did our shopping, again, at the HEB down the street the very next night. We made sure to go at the same time. There were three lanes open and ready when we were ready to checkout. HEB got the revenue that Kroger should have gotten the previous night had they just bothered to open a register and check us out.

I'm with you on this one. I only use the self check out if I have less than 10 items. If the store is open, there needs to be a cashier ready to check you out.

Are they not in business to sell groceries? What's next? You gotta stock the shelves?

I'd be ****** if I saw you in self checkout with that much

I would've 'accidently' flipped the cart over right there and walked out the door.

I thought if you bought beer/alcohol someone had to verify your ID?

          That seems ridiculous!

I want to know why there is no discount for using self checkout.

I hate it too. Live less than half a mile from krogers so its our go to store. The only time i have seen someone up front is when it was really packed.

Good job Robin! It prob wasn't actually krogers fault, or maybe it was their fault for hiring lazy employees. . That guy on Facebook is a dumbass. The "perishables" we're probably put back in the store faster than you would've had put them up after a self check out and a ride home.

Dumped it on the self checkout machine and then left.

If they want to pay me to be a cashier, then I'll be happy to use self-check out, but until they do so, i'm expecting THEM to do THEIR job

That is jacked up. I would be super ticked. Lights are on, people need to be WORKING. I'd have called corporate on that one for sure. Not sure how far the FB page goes up the line.

That's a twenty minute trip! You shop slower than my wife.

I do agree with you on the "self checkout" though. If I want a job there I would ask for an application when I walked in.

The wife and I were just talking about this tonight. I don't mind the self check if I've just got a few things, but if it's more than I can go through the express lane with there better be somebody to check me out. We lost power for a bit today and the Kroger's near us was out of commission. I went to another nearby store, Arlan's and found them busier than I've seen them in a while. They had a checker at every lane, no lines and seemed to be getting everyone out in a hurry with NO self check. I need to frequent them more but it's hard to drive past K and my house after work to get to Arlan's.

The term "Customer Service" no longer exists in many corporations.

I would have done exactly as you did. I might have even remembered a few more items I needed before I left.

I wrote a long, and negative, customer service reply to AT&T Uverse today. We had a cable box power cord go bad 6-8 months ago. In a bedroom we rarely use, so I let it go. Spent about 30 minutes on the internet Friday trying to find a phone number for customer service. The only customer service phone numbers are for sales only. Ended up in a 30 minute chat with someone from India. He wanted to credit my account $10 and I could go buy my own power cord. Nope- I pay monthly for this equipment- it's not my job to go try to find the right power cord out of 50 or more power cords. Told him to send me a new box. Okay- it's sent. You must return it within 15 days. You have to package it, label it, and get it to a UPS store to send it. Nope- cancel the order- not my job to return your defective equipment. Cancel the order and send a tech to fix it. Okay, will do. Set up appt. Next day new cable box arrives in the mail. Don't open it, wait for tech to arrive to install it and take old one with him.

Funny part about the whole thing, while setting up the appt I get a message that says, "Do you have a dog? If you do it will need to be confined to the house during the technicians visit". I sent back, "Yes I have a dog. I will confine it in the house, where the cable box is located."

No problems with tech. He did a great job, called when he was on his way, and got everything up and running.

I will re-evaluate my relationship with AT&T U verse in the near future.
