If it breaks around the house I fix it. I hate working on cars but I am also cheap so I fix them when they need it. My ol man was a carpenter in his younger days so every summer from about 12 years old I was framing, plumbing, wiring, roofing, building cabinets, poring slabs etc on a house somewhere.

Worst mistake I ever made, while fixing a leaky drain pipe on the kitchen sink in mine and my new wife's house as fast as I could so I could go hunt she very casually says " so you can fix and build all this stuff around here"? And I said "yes" without thinking. Been a handy man for her for almost 20 years now.

Mechanical, but my Dad was the epitome of mechanical. I grew up on a dairy and he built and fixed everything from engines, electrical, welding, plumbing, carpentry. He could do it all. As he said, " jack of all, master of none" He was a master. I knew all wrench sizes from 7/32 to over 1", 6 point and 12 point, by the time I was 6, thanks to me being Dad's helper. I learned how to fix most all things mechanical, but I'm not much of a carpenter.

I r n-ga-near... last week, couldn't spell it, this week I r 1... have always been able to diagnose and work on stuff, design/build stuff, but with my spare/leisure time very limited, I don't work on cars/trucks unless it is a have to... I'd rather be tinkering with a bow, gun, deer stand, boat, or something associated with my habits/hobbies...

OH YEA, I can attest to Chew's self evaluation. He's spot on!

mechanical and can usually figure anything out, but I generally don't work on cars, appliances, etc. because my time is better spent making money doing what I do best so I can pay those guys to do what they do best (and have the tools/parts to do it right)

Yep, Mechanically inclined here. Saved my job on a couple of times and my arse a couple more. Instructions are for those highly critical projects.

Small things I can figure out on my own usually, it just takes time. I'm an engineer though, so I usually spend alot of time trying to make sure it is done text book, and I understand why it is done that way. I bet I could rebuild a carb, for instance, but it would take forever because at every step, as I am reading the manual, I will want to know what the thing does and how it works. This is why sometimes I avoid doing these things becuase it takes so much time, and I don't have all the time in the world to learn everything!

I'm too good at breaking stuff not to know how to fix it. I hate working on cars/trucks anymore...but I did put an a-arm leveling kit on my truck Friday night.

I'd rather be building something than fixing anything. I could never find what I wanted, built the way I wanted.....so I learned to fabricate stuff myself. I come by it honest though. My dad can fab, design, replicate, improve, and build just about anything you can imagine with steel. He could weld ice water in a glass. I'm gettin better.

I can fix a bunch of stuff, as I tend to break stuff on the weekends, holidays or way off the paved roads.

I'd rather be too rich to get my hands dirty, but you take what you get.....

I can work on and fix just about anything. It stinks being broke all your younger years and driving and owning junk. Growing up on a farm made me more self supportive and for that I am eternally grateful.

I'm somewhat mechanical, but I have a masters in "southern engineering".
There are plenty of things that I can/will fix, and some that I'm not even gonna try.
