It is so wrong to kill deer that have been hand fed & loved by children. It's supposed to be a wildlife refuge, not a wildlife free for all!

Hunting should not be allowed in wildlife sanctuaries. There is no sport in killing animals that have been tamed by human contact.

I had long suspected that the "Refuge" portion of Hagerman's name was a sham. Canned hunts are deplorable and should be banned! Oh how I wish we could arm the animals.

Here are a couple of the comments from the antis...they just don't have a clue. Anyone that has ever hunted here or any public land that doesn't allow "baiting," knows that this hunt is not even in the same zip code as a canned hunt.

the petition was so far from making numbers i decided to comment. i wonder if they kept my decidedly anti-petitioner bias? i doubt it, but then again, maybe they were too stupid to understand my anti-idiot prose. after scrolling thru hundreds of moronic/totally ignorant comments, i found mine. it even had a like. go figure.

I like the fact that the petition letter reads:

Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, located in Grayson County Texas, clearly states on their website “Wildlife comes first! The main goals of Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge are to provide and manage habitat for migratory birds, wildlife, and plants native to this area.”

Yet they are clueless that removing deer from the herd IS management. Silly silly people

Maybe someone should point out that the rapidly expanding uncontrollable habitat destroying swine are wildlife too. And see why it is ok to kill them and not a deer. All of the animals there need to be regulated as far as population numbers,including varmints.

If you are going to have a petition please have the facts straight. The deer on hagerman national wildlife refuge are not hand fed, there is wheat planted for the migratory birds and all resident wildlife benefit. Look up the definition of deer management. The hunt is a form of management. This is not a free for all. There are a lot of rules each hunter takes a bowhunter education and safety class and must shoot a proficiency qualifier to ensure they can take an ethical shot. If children are letting their kids try and feed and pet these deer then somebody needs to call CPS on them. These are wild free range animals and can be protective over their young and agressive during the rut. 100% of the harvest is food for the hunters or hunters families and some are given to a program called hunters for the hungry. Trees and flowers are photographed as well as birds and of yes the deer will get photographed, this has no bearing what so ever. BTW go read your bible:
