    Give em a Fighting chance.

As far as that kid coming in and shooting his teacher in the face... he should have been shot right then and there... he wasnt trying to shoot his jaw off.. he aimed for his head ad lucky for the teacher he hit his jaw... but his intent was to kill an innocent person, and theres no room for those type of people.

In training, CHL or otherwise that teacher would know that bullets can change direction... ricochet and go through walls... Train the license holders to make educated decisions based on their surroundings.
I thought for one, that lockdowns meant that rooms became locked. Not So? If someone wants to shoot a person, a school full of kids running around no matter where they are are going to be subject to being hit. It's just a mass of people running around and more opportunity to be seen. Wouldn't want my child to just first run and perhaps run right into a person with a gun. It's a panic, uncontrolled situation. They are already sheltered in the classroom and hopefully in a room that can be locked. That's where the second part of homeland comes in, the hide part. Hide in a locked down room and not roaming the halls where the perps are. There's two sides to all this and if concensus is that letting the kids all go and make a run for it was the best solution, that would be the proticol, but it's not. and there's people that have thought that out that know much more about it than I.

the teacher that is educated in CHL doesn't mean that he will use what been taught in a panic situation(he should but there's no quarantee). ....and yes they do ricochet and go through walls and last I knew most walls in schools were sheet rock.

I have 2 kids in school. But I know all the teachers and I do not want any of them carrying around a loaded gun.

Now there are a few teachers (mainly men) at the high school that would not bother me if they carried but since I can not pick and choose who would get to carry I say none of them.

        Well that clears it up.
I was wondering who got to pick and choose who carried or not.
        It's you.
        Thanks.

not going to read all of these post but I think it's funny some are so against open carry for whatever reason. None of those reasons are any problem in the states that do allow open carry so why do you think it would happen here in Texas???
And would also carry concealed mostly too.

And Coach....I just finished a 16 hour DHS course on active school shootings...

Not to mention are you saying MORE TRAINING is needed for CHL holders???

              Surely you remember my thread!!
Sorry sir but I don't remember your thread. When I have time I will search for it.

Like I said earlier I don't have a chl and will never have one. I only carry when I travel on my motorcycle. I won't carry if it becomes an open carry law. Just my personal opinion. I am all for everyone having the choice to carry either way.

I would like to sit through the DHS class as I have heard it is interesting.

As far as facts, there are probably not any in stone. I believe we all agree if skilled and qualified citizens were allowed to carry in restaurants and movie theaters and certain school settings, the devastation and deaths would be much fewer when these events take place.
IMO it wouldn't allow the shooter to just walk freely and shoot like they are shooting fish in a barrel, which is pretty much what takes place.

I would take my chances with an armed group as opposed to not.

For those of you arguing and not for open carry, here is my argument.

The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution is the part of the United States Bill of Rights that protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. It was adopted on December 15, 1791, along with the rest of the Bill of Rights.

If ya dont like it. I hear France is nice...

Thats the problem with speculation, we can all do it but facts regarding cases like you referenced are not readly found, even by law enforcement.

I'm fixing to **** on feet once again, but lets face the facts there are VERY FEW skilled citizens/LE walking around. Case in point...last class I was at we removed three officers from the class due to not being on the level needed to safely continue, and that was on day three of a five day class. But to even think that Joe the average guy or Jane the average woman, can effectively push past the body's "flight or fight" response to effectively engage a target is naive in its own, it takes a lot of repetitive trainining to get past what the human body does in defense of itself..

And may I ask why you do not carry a weapon, but instead rely on others that do? I may have misunderstood you, if I did...please clarifiy..

We should not need special permits or laws to exercise our constitutional rights.
