    With all respect here folks

Good shot on your javalina. They are fun to hunt.

That may be the case most of the time....but I am pretty sure that the one that was after me was , for sure, after me! I have had feral hogs run at me a bunch of times and think that every time they were just running and I happened to be in the way. This particular javi that chased me though was different; he was trying to retaliate against me just because I happened to have spined his buddy a couple minutes earlier. He was coming after me and I did hit him HARD on the head with my bow 4 times before he finally turned and gave up.

Bisch, i am sure that it did happen just as you say. While growing up in my dad's ranch in south texas at the age of maybe 15 yrs. One week end some relatives came to visit. I always looked forward to that because 1 of my favorite cousins were among them. Having quite many javalinas around we decided to hunt them Saturday evening. We stalked to within 10 or 15 yards of them in thick S Tx brush (Keep the wind in your favor, and at times you can just about kick them in the rear before they know you are there). I decided to let my cousin behind me to take a shot at one with his 22. He hit the javalina right between the eyes and dropped him like a brick. The others immediately bolted. One boar bolted straight towards me, i yelled at him, and he stopped in his tracks. He was trying to figure it out, and even thou i was no more than 3 ft from him, he could not make me out. When i moved to kick him in his nose, he was gone in a blurr (i don't think my foot made more than an inch off the ground towards him). Sound very familiar to what happened to you, almost identical. That boar in my case was running to escape not to attack me.

My younger brother had his leg calf cut by a javalina back during those days but that was because the javalina bolted, and my brother was in his way, AND then the javalina took a swipe at his leg while he was going by him. According to my brother the javalina DID NOT stop to do that. It happened in a blurr, so fast that he did not know that he had been hooked for a little while.

I've had them arrows length away popping their teeth at me, but never had them actually try to bite me. This one nearly ran me over, but he was just coming to the call to see what all the commotion was about. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5nwUTHkSkM&feature=plcp"]Javelina Hunt[/ame]

Great vidio Texastrophy. Your vidio rienforces what i have being saying. Looking close at your vidio that one that was running away after the second shot, immediately veered off as soon as he or she saw you in his or her way. It can easily be interpreted as an attack which was not.

They are alot of fun hunting them. I have hunted them all my life and never gets old hunting them.

So they may not charge in a moment of panicked fleeing but, as others have said here, they will absolutely and with very obvious intent try to eat your lunch if you mess with their babies. I raised one for about 6 months when I was young and catching it almost got my brother and I turned into javi droppings.

With all due respect I have bowhunter since I was 12years old and have shot numerous hogs and javelinas.....in this instance it was clear to me that the Javelina spotted me right before I shot.....and have no doubt in my mind that he had intent to charge!

I've had that experience with a big hog once. I had to jump him and yes I screamed like a little girl. Best hunt I ever had. Just wish it was on video, never thought I could have got my big butt that far of the ground.
