Nice shot. Nice video but I don't think he was actually attacking you. I think he was just doing his death run and happened to come out of the brush where you were and ran under you. I had one run around like that last year and ran into the side of my ground blind. Just circumstance. Still heart thumping excitement any way you see it.

Oh by the way, don't ever go up to one after you shot it and nudge it in the butt to see if it is still alive. They will whirl around and bite through your boot, top and bottom, and you know what is between the top and bottom of your boot. Speaking form experience on that one. hurts like all get out. Good job, enjoyed the video

My son nicked one in the top of the shoulder. And that thing looked straight at us popping his teeth. It took off away from us circled a little bush and made a be-line right for us. As it was coming I put an arrow straight thru him, center of chest and out the right ham. He just skidded and tipped over. I know for a fact he new were we were and was coming for us, no dought. Love hunting them things !!!!!!!!!

One put my son up in the back of his truck ! Seems like son was pestering the little fellow with a bb pistol ' cause the javy was eating his hand corn. He had to pop it in the top of the head several times with the bb pistol to make it leave. Wish I had been there ! LOL

I feel deprived I've been hunting javvie for 15 years and haven't been charged yet. My buddy hit one and when he tracked it into the brush it charged him. While he was trying to dodge he tripped and fell down. He had to beat it off with his bow. Funny now, not so much when it was happening. I'll be after them next month.

                        Thread is over 2yrs old.....

Javi's will run off and leave their young, their spotted and go to ground while the pod leaves to draw the danger away from the young. That's why they are spotted sort of like a fawn. You pick a baby javi and he starts squealing you better have track shoes on.

Javi's maintain a defensive perimeter at all times that the pod continually clears as a safe zone. When a javi is shot and starts squealing it calls the pod to alarm and they again clear their safe zone . If you move they will run up and verify that you are a danger then run off. They also rush to the aid of the wounded javi in defense, attempting to get the wounded javi up to flee with the pod.

In 1973 there was a bowhunter north of Uvalde that stuck a juvenile javi in the rump that chased the javi trying for another shot. Javi turned on him where he ran to a water cistern and tried to pull himself up. The wounded javi nipped his calf and he got 7 stitches in the Uvalde Hospital, a week later he lost his leg just below the knee.

I've stuck a bunch of javi's that have run around in circles with an arrow sticking through them, not one of them was trying to find or locate me, and when they did see me they veered off to escape.

I've been treed by one in a similar situation. I shot one with my bow and as soon as I hit it, another one in the pack came running right at me. I grabbed a low hanging tree branch right behind me and pulled myself up as he ran under me.
