    We use them..
As much is spent on corn/feed.. want every bit of it at least given the opportunity to hit the spinner.

never again will i spend money on a feeder that doesn't have some type of funnel. I've had more clogged feeders and 1/5 full feeders acting empty because of no funnel.

God made gravity and physics the way He wanted. I'm always trying to remind myself not to fight that.

I see absolutly no point in having a funnel in a feeder.

I always use funnels for the reasons mentioned above. Why not? That's the real question.... Dale?

Depends on how close you are to your lease and how often you check your feeders. If close and checking often no need for a funnel. if along way away and only checking every 6 weeks or go you need a funnel.

So what does the frequency of checking have to do with the corn in the bottom?

Most funnels I've seen take up more space than neccesary. I don't like the way they go empty all at once, my feeders will get really low and then throw a little bit more for a week or so as corn vibrates to the spinner....and if I get there to hunt and one is aaaalmost empty I can shake it and get enough corn to the spinner for the rest of the weekend. I wouldn't mind the corn dust in the bottom having an easier way to escape, but I rake it down the hole before filling the feeder and that is that.

I don't remember ever having a feeder barrel rust through, and my lids don't let moisture in.

Whats wrong with the corn in the bottom? Its just like the corn in the top. If you are having issues with corn molding in the bottom of your barrell your either not letting it get empty enough before refilling or your barrell leaks somewhere. In the bottom of a 55 gallon barrell without a funnel when it quits spinning corn you'll have less than 2.5" of corn. When you dump new corn in it will mix with corn left in the bottom. generally a funnel takes up close to 10 to 12" of the bottom of a barrell. So I am with Dale in that it is wasted space.

Here's the funnel I just installed in the 110 gallon Feeder.

I never let my feeders go empty... Therefore a need for a funnel, by the reasoning mentioned above...

If the surface is flat, corn stays on the sides around the rim edge. It doesn't empty even if nothing is coming out of feeder. Secondly moisture is inevitable, at least in my experience, whether it be humidity, rain, a faulty lid or moisture in the corn.

These two feeders were an easy test....same lids....same barrel....same place.....one with a funnel .....one without. Mold in the one without....not in the one with. After helping him clean out the mess I offered to buy a funnel for the second one so I did not have to help him again.

You need it on all your feeders

So it was just rotten corn? Good point on moisture.
