Here is my take on the "Status" or Post Count.
I'd say remove it and do it by years involved. You don't see a buck in September as a spike and then because he talks to 600 other deer he becomes a 6 point by December.
As in life you don't ask a kid a serious technical question if he can't facial hair. You fine the saltiest dog in the shop. If you are looking for truth or quality in someone's opinion, do some foot work and look at their other posts.
If it takes a real buck years to gain the head gear. Why not these members.
Its a number, normally based on the "Cool", "Awesome", "Good Job", "Nice work" one liners.
Another thing, it could be by Threads started instead of total posts....

As far as what is in bold, "threads started instead of total posts", there would be all sorts of penny-ante threads started... "hey, look at my toenail" (probably started by Keegles or Breezy), "hey, I saved 3 cents on gas today", "hey, have you ever licked your fingers after eating KFC?".There would be no way to keep up with the threads then... And folks think it's bad now how fast a thread will get bumped down the line... this would be a total nightmare and cause too much clutter IMO.

This is a tough one.
Michael, you know you and I have been through it together since the early days of the Bowsite and we've pretty much seen it all. But over the years I've come to realize that part of the allure of the site are the post counts and buck growth status for a lot of members. It's fun and it genuinely helps fuel participation. Yes, some padding may occur but for the most part, I have been genuinely impressed with some of the lengthy threads and the civil discussions that have taken place.
I think the bigger problem occurs when someones conventional wisdom ends up being pretty unconventional
They don't look before they leap and a lot of times they haven't even read the OP or all the posts in the thread!
That's when the arguments start, but hey, that's what the have moderators for
I'd bet that 98% of the time, a quick PM to the perpetrator will solve the problem.
This might be a better method than limiting actual post numbers on a single thread.
Heck, I hadn't checked in a while and I'm only about 600 posts away from Pope & Young and this time it's only taken 6 years

The main question is that is the a topic that would be discussed around a real campfire? I believe that even some of the trivial stuff would and I find a lot them interesting and hilarious. Actually I just miss a good Stacks thread

OO, OO, I got another contribution about the one liners. I know that I personally have posted a one liner in a thread to book mark it so I could come back to it later. If there is a better way to do this just let me know and I will start doing it that way rather than, just posting a stupid one liner to save it.

Since the big crash happened in late 2007, that would be impossible to do since the members that signed on before the crash's original registration info was lost. That is what?.... 8-10 years of lost info if it started in the late 90s?
