I agree with you, we fish Baffin and port Mansfield, and most folks don’t like the trout problem
one problem is TP&W imo has pushed the redfish program to hard , dumping millions of apex predators into the bay’s seems to have reduced the trout population ( last time we fished under the lights, big bull reds moved in and where feeding on the trout, it was a mess trying to keep a trout with out losing our fish or getting spooled)
i personally miss the strong trout fishery
This is where I'm at, think they need to increase the Redfish limit. Even if they're not directly eating trout there's certainly some overlap in food and habitat resources that hurt trout numbers.
It will more than likely never be 5 trout again. Better chance they cut it more.
f tpwd!
David - If you could go back in time and had the power to do so, would you have proactively reduced duck limits in line with the 3 and 30 you’ve been wanting here lately?
Ain’t social media grand…….would love to hear the scientific quantitative proof behind the behind the claims. Even TPWD seems to be struggling with this per their net surveys prior to the limit reductions.
He still didn’t answer my question as to whether he’s reduced his hunters deer allotment…taking away their rights as lease members.
I hunt Mexico pinche ... hence the name. We don't have many rules. 50 ducks a day and 100 doves... did that hurt your feelings or are you going to be ok? I can probably find you a gordita Latina to give you crp if you need help!! Just ask! 😗🤣😁

Yes I would have or would. That's kinda vague though. If habitat conditions were bad as they have been up north, drought, I would drop that 3/30 hammer easy. I remember the 3/30 days. They were good. Lot less pressure, guides went out of business etc. Public hunting wasn't so stressful.
If pressure stays like it is I would glady take the 3 duck limit every season. Of course there are many factors affecting birds and fish. Habitat and people are the 2 biggest imo. I am for a moratorium on any more guides entering the business. If any quit there should not be a license to replace them. As much as we all *****, times are changing and not for the good of hunting and fishing. We all have to accept it. It does mean reduced limits etc, BUT I do believe tpwd screwed us on the 3 fish limit. Let the commercial side take some of the heat instead of the recreational side.
I think the 3 trout limit sucks. I didn't like it when it went to five but thought it might take some pressure off the bays, it didn't. I think that most of the actions that TPW takes are total BS. They are slowly taking away our freedom.

I agree 100%
tpwd has turned into a woke agency where buddies of the commissioners get their way. Look at the conservation snow goose season. That was a good middle finger to the guys hunting them.

Is there a commercial market for trout? I didn't know there was.
Completely agree with you specialspecially on the federal snapper limits. Recreational guys get screwed big time while the commercial guys get 95% of the fish.
