Today wasn’t much better than yesterday but did land a few. Water was off color, bait wasn’t very active, strong incoming tide, and more of an east wind.
Landed 2 trout + a dink and rat red, Wife landed 1 keeper trout, 12 dinks and 2 rat reds. A few of her trout were probably right at 15 but we turned em loose.

Decided to take apart the Salty Hundo to try and find the cause of the grittiness.
No luck. Over engineered for what it is. To many clip springs where an old c-clip used to work. Also has star head screws on it and not a normal Philips. Also, 2 of them were in spots I don’t know how to get a screwdriver in.
I normally pollish all brass components for a slicker surface. Didn’t matter how many passes I made, I could not get it to lose the surface scratches, or oxidation. Never mind the fact it did not get any better as far as polishing goes.
I’ve got it, so I’ll keep fishing it. Time will tell how it does.
I did send Bates an email regarding the reel going into gear mid cast. Hopefully I get a response.

If I could get a do over, I’d have just stuck with the Lew’s Custom Lites.
Even though the brakes are broken, that hasn’t affected castability. They are extremely light, and for the price, work well.
Also they are pretty simple to work on. No issues breaking one down and rebuilding.
Not trying to sway anyone one way or another, just sharing my experience.
