It shouldn't be this hard to get a home owner insurance policy... but it is geez

I think that is part of my issue. My distance from a fire station is about 16 miles. One agent had me fill out a form and one of the questions was the response time for the fire station I had listed. She said that had to filled in in order to get a quote. I called and talked the VFD folks and they wouldn't give a definitive response time due to circumstances at the time in need. Which, I agreed. They also said they normally get that question from the insurance folks not the home owner. The insurance agent she couldn't help me.

we are served by VFD and no hydrants nearby. I'm guessing our insurance just went by ISO rating as most do since that already takes all that into account. Silly part is I am recently retired from Fort Worth Fire and even with us less than 5 minutes away most house fires of any significance were totaled. Maybe a kitchen fire or one that was called in small and we were able to get there before it got out of hand. Class 1 ISO rating city. If they are asking you response time make one up, that's an unanswerable question, we've been on medical calls and had one in sight of station lose the whole roof since next company had to make it.

After several independent agents couldn't get me a policy(due to distance from FD), Looks like State Farm has a policy. Did get a call today from a Goosehead insurance agent in training. We'll see what they have to offer .
