This opinion is based strictly upon my own understanding, since I am no game biologist:
I'd counter your comments, by saying that pigs reproduce at a rate about 16 times faster than those exotics. And that figure is based on a rather conservative estimate of a 1 yr old female hog, having 2 litters per year, of 8 piglets, whereas those antelope usually have only 1 or 2 offspring, once a year.

I thought this was a bowhunting website. Every bowhunter I know benefits from increased opportunity to hunt and harvest wild game via wild hogs. We have far more bowhunting experience than states where there are no hogs. I can loose more arrows in a weekend than most northern bowhunters can in 2 years.

The biggest beneficiaries amongst our native wildlife would be the ground-nesting birds--quail, turkeys, roadrunners, vultures, etc. Plus the deer would benefit way more from the corn we spin out for them.

I enjoy hunting them--it's a year-round excuse to get out of the house, although those July-August days and nights are sometimes really awful.

          Good one!

My thought on KAP was Kill A Pig! Not all pig.

I am happy the hogs r on our ranch and gives me an opportunity to hunt em year round.

Its all about love and hate relationship with hogs for some ppl.
I love em to death and will be happy to keep em coming under my feeder.

I see it this way...I love/have to hunt hogs! I wish we didn't have a hog problem! Since we do...I get to hunt 365 days a year! I get to hunt with every weapon I own. I can go after work, weekends, holidays etc. It never stops because Texas has a huge hog problem! It is both a blessing and a curse. So I say KAP!

Agree, and that is just one more reason to like them. More to hunt!!

This IS a bowhunting website, but everybody on here has jobs and financial assets as well. Have you never been financially burdened in your job or personal interests by feral pigs? I have, and I'm sure many others as well.

If Texas has such a big hog "problem" then whay aren't there adds from landowners saying "got too many hogs. Come kill as many as you can for free"? You know why. Because the hunting of the pig brings in money as well. People charge you a fee to come hunt pigs just like everything else. If the were a huge problem then they would be free.

If you killed everyone you saw you still wouldn't kill ALL of them. I don't take KAP as a literal meaning because it is impossible.

Kill All Pigs.... Great concept, but will most likely never happen. Mother Nature is quite amazing, however, and any void left by a decrease in hog population would become opportunity for other species both native and or exotic. I say Kill Em All! and let God sort it out. And have a lot of fun in the process.

TXPWD a couple years ago did a study and made the prediction that it every licensed hunter in Texas shot every pig they saw that in @12 years we would have the population under control, not gon, just at a level they could be maintained. How many licensed hunters do you thing Texas has?? Shooting every pig they see, let's say 5-10 per year. For 12 years. Wrp your mind around that number. Understand that ever sow is adding about 12 new ones to the herd every year, projected survival rate is 6 per litter.

I'd have to quit my job and go hog hunting 18 hours a day.

My Grandfather taught me early on that if it is good enough to kill it is good enough to eat. If you are not going to eat it don't kill it.
You eat all the coyotes, coons, squirrels, skunks, snakes, etc. you kill also right?

When you let people, especially strangers, onto your land for free, you open up a whole lot of other problems. There are many hunters on this site that brag about shooting the landowner's cattle with blunt arrows, slingshots, etc. and they are usually paying to hunt there. Think about if someone was turned loose on your property for no charge. We tried this with friends a few times. You give them an inch, and they take a yard. Strangers would probably be a lot worse. I don't want hogs around, but they are better than allowing strangers on the place.

Sows can have a litter every 3 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days of up to 12 pigletts. A sow can breed as early as 6 months old. They are not going anywhere...thank God.
