Do the Five Fingers have arch support? With my condition arch support is an absolute necessity. I'd like to try them if they do.

My fat body and my wide, flat feet love the Brooks beast.

I have been using several generations of Asics Nimbus shoes and love them. I have four pairs that I'm rotating, two with over 300 miles right now.

Your best bet is to go to a running specialty store, not a box retailer, and getting them to look at your gait. You might have to pay a little more for your first pair, but once you get one pair, you can go out to roadrunnersports or one of the other internet shoe sales sites and get them a lot less expensive. I buy last year's models when they are heavily discounted.

If you've got an older pair of running shoes, check for over or under pronation, figure out which you are, then look for shoes that compensate for your gait...

          OR...

Buy a pair of minimalist running shoes and learn how to run witht he POSE method.

          Google is your friend.

Asics for me mostly. If you are getting shin splints you might be running on your toes too much. Try concentrating on your form, coming down on your heels and rolling your foot to push off with your toes. Proper running form can make a huge difference in how your legs and feet feel.

everyones foot and body type is different also the way your foot contacts and roles off the ground, this will dictate what shoe is best for you while running. YOu need to go to a good running store and let them put you on a tred mill to see how your run, walk and the exact shape of your foot

New Balance Minimus. I love them. I use these in Crossfit and running. If your heavy on the hoof though, probably not the best choice.

I have ran in just about every brand of shoe. You aren't going to find a better all around shoe than Asics. There are better specialty shoes but Asics makes the best from top to bottom.

asics are the best. i've been running competitively all through middle school, high school, college and now I run for fun. I've ran in a lot of different shoes and brands and asics have been my fav by far. more comfort and last longer. I have the gel nimbus right now.
but everyone has a different running style and needs for their body. Check out this website: http://www.asicsamerica.com/shoefitguide/

                        good luck!

Or just try on as many as you can and make a day of it walking around academy.
^^^ THIS!! as a coach i deal with this all the time. the truth is having shoes fitted for you is the way to go for running for a couple reasons.

                          1) you do not exactly know what shoe will fit best for your foot type.
                          2) its kind of like a bow, what has worked great for someone else may not for you simply because of body and foot types.

A fitted shoe for running will help with lots of pains!, run tex is where to go!! GOOD LUCK!
