I live in Harper. CTEC is my provider. We had a cold snap for 3 weeks of temps below 15 degrees. All over our area. Harper, Kerrville, Mountain Home, Fredricksburg,Center Point. There are new sub stations being completed, most are finished and new high voltage transmission lines are going up just about everywhere we drive. I am having a good bit of faith if a crisis comes with all the new infrastructure being installed. We got hit hard in the Hill Country and I do feel something was done about it over the past three years since the storm. But just in case...I do have a duel fuel genset all ready to go.

      Don’t forget your TP!

How in the world are y’all comparing this upcoming front to what happened back a few years ago? Nowhere near the same time frame or temps. Not even close.

You are correct. But build back better has been in effect for a few years now and we all know how things have gone. I like to be prepared. Once the power goes off the fuel pumps don't work.

            Care to offer your source?

Greenhead- I read an article on what the % of power that had to come from alternative energy and it had all of the States listed. It had to do with Fed funding and had major monetary penalties. I was hoping someone in the know would clarify if this included storm events or if the Feds backed off on it during storms etc?

                      ERCOT is a clown show.

Hopefully nobody puts their sole reliance on Ercot or anyone else for that matter to keep their homes warm. I don’t think this cold snap will rival the freezing temps we had a few years back. Not sure Ercot can do much about it anyway.

here is their prediction for power consumption and availability over the next few days:

Over the last 48 hours, models are showing higher chances for winter precipitation. The front also seems to be moving faster than they originally thought.

I started watching this guy during the spring wild weather flare-ups. Now I watch daily, even when the weather isn't doing anything crazy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n_ckr7z3nw

He and his team have been quite accurate as far as I can tell.

It's the Russians! They built a really big fan and turned it on!
