I'm not slamming Mormons nor their beliefs. Everyone has a right to believe what that want to believe.
There are some very hard to fathom Moron beliefs that they do not readily advertise.
I would in no way consider Mormonism Christianity. Its almost as dissimilar to Christianity as Islam.
Thanks. I've had conversations like this with Mormons but Jeff handles it 20x better than I ever could. Very interesting to watch. Crazy how they squirm out of every single topic.
Here's the one I just watched.

This is the "around the campfire" forum, I forgot that some of you only talk hunting when around a campfire.... Sorry OP, I got nothing for you for answers but I did really enjoyed the series "Under the Banner of Heaven".

No, they also go drive around to other peoples campfires and complain directly to them about how their conversations are not up to their standards.

If they can deal with more than one wife, then go ahead. Personally, I find one hard enough to deal with. I can't imagine what it would be like with an extra set or more of in-laws, honey do list and the upkeep of more than one wife. I had a wife and two daughters and that was way more estrogen than I cared for.

I'm sure that's true. The same holds true for Christians and every other religious group. Most people believe what they've been told and/or what they just want to believe without actually studying the Bible or whatever they consider to be their authoritative spiritual/religious text to be.

I agree. That's why I wanted to ask Mormons in general what they believe versus going off just Google.

I seriously think the goobers PM each other on what threads to dog pile..
One fella types a completely hypocritical, dumb response COMPLAINING about the "OP complaining" and the sack riders show up to tell him how awesome and spot on his response is.
                    Its freaking hilarious. So predictable.

                        1. Do you believe what your prophet says is always accurate, even the first ones like J. Smith and B. Young?
                        2. If America lifted laws to make polygamy legal would you and the Mormon Church become polygamist ASAP?
                        3. Do you believe Jesus is the only way to salvation Or is it Jesus plus J. Smith equals salvation?
                        1. Some do and some don't.
                        2. Some would and some wouldn't.
                        3. No. God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost are all separate beings unlike some other Christian religions that believe in the trinity. i.e. Jesus is God etc.

Prophets can deliver "Scripture" or "gospel" but there is a difference from the gospel of jesus christ and the exact needed direction of the church. The prophets can speak gospel, but their job is to teach people how to come to Christ. They're teaching people based on what the people need in that day. Happned all the time in the apistoles in the bible. They wrote to specific people in specific circumstances based on what was happening. Just like god had prophets to guide believers since the beginning of time, we have them now. But they're not jesus and not everything they say or do reflects the gospel or Christs teaching.

                          2. If America lifted laws to make polygamy legal would you and the Mormon Church become polygamist ASAP?
Polygamy has been around since the beginning of time, it existed all throughout the bible and something prophets have done forever. That being said it's not part of the "gospel" or "required" to have multiple wives. It' just something that has been existing in the bible. Just like prophets from question 1. That being said, the church gives policies on what they need to do for the given time frame and what revelation the prophet is getting at the time. But polygamy was something that the church leaders struggled with just like if they required it today. Many members would really struggle with the concept. But polygamy history and even today occurs all around the world

                          3. Do you believe Jesus is the only way to salvation Or is it Jesus plus J. Smith equals salvation?
Joseph smith from public perceptions seems to be something or someone we worship. That's not true at all. We consider Joseph smith a prophet. Just like god called prophets since adam. He is just one of them and his entire job was to teach people to come unto christ and help them learn about him. I think there is such a controversial point about him because we're the only church that believes god still calls prophets like he did in the bible. He was just the one that restored gods church back to the earth.

All that being said there is lots of slander on our church and even in this thread which is quite weird. It's a hunting thread and personally I believe that we should not care what people believe and having conversations and wanting to learn and see new perspectives is what makes America so amazing. Don't give in to people talking about what members of the church of jesus christ believe unless they really know. I served a mission, continue going to church, read the bible and the book of mormon and if you really wanted to understand what we would believe just read the book. It's not going to hurt anything and you will see it's all about jesus christ and what he taught. 100% about him. Following his teachings, and most importantly living a good life, helping your neighbor, being generous, telling people about your faith, paying tithing, not using substances, staying healthy, etc. it gets a bad wrap and I am not too sure why.

But it's okay, public opinion doesn't have to be mine! and Mine doesn't have to be yours!

I know most Mormons are very good people. Very family oriented, faithful to their church etc. I'm not hear to say/tell my other thoughts that are negative.

Again - I don't care who thinks polygamy is ok. But J Smith taught very strongly polygamy was/is an eternal principle - did he not? And it was either J Smith or B Young that gave the speech about how god has many wives so in order for a man to progress he will need many wives also. So I was curious if the average Mormon believes polygamy will be back in play at some point.

I didn't insinuate Mormons worship J Smith. But I read that it takes J Smith and Jesus in order to be saved. Doctrines of Salvation 1:189 and Journal of Discourses 7:238 for example.

BTW - I'm replying because you tried to answer but didn't really give and answer. You can PM me if you don't want to discuss on the open forum.

I coach travel baseball and soccer teams and have 1 kid on my soccer teams (13U and 16U) and 1 on my 12U baseball team that will not participate in games or practices or private lessons on Sundays. I don't consider practice or a Sunday game as work, but I gotta deal with it.

This should give you a little more data

Former Utah County therapist Scott Owen was booked into the Utah County jail on suspicion of six counts of object rape and four counts of forcible sodomy. He has not been formally charged as of Wednesday evening.
