Its pretty good stuff. I have learned alot...especially about what each sound truly means. Never heard anyone explain it that way....not even the elknut stuff.

Guess I'll be adding it to my to do list along with the elk playbook. I like some of the stuff he puts up on YouTube for free, so I'd imagine that the stuff you pay for is top notch.

Any of you guys running a Kifaru duplex timberline 2? If you are, do you have any additional side or belt pockets?

I have a Bikini Timberline 2. The suspension and belt are everything people say they are. I have not tried a Duplex but I assume it is as well.

I like a lot of pockets in my pack....the T2 is pretty skinny in that regard. I have 2 Med belt pouches mounted on the pack which I use a lot.

I have not done a backpack hunt with it but if I did I would add a lid with some volume.

I run a bikini frame with the timberline 2 with a large pocket on the side and two small belt pockets. Usually has enough storage for me, the bad thing about adding pockets is it adds weight quickly.

Any of you guys use tarps to sleep under or for shade? I just purchased the slumberjack satellite tarp and will be using it in a little more than a month. Will try it out antelope hunting and then on our elk hunt. Will be using it more for added shade but it looks like it should be a great addition.

I'm upgrading the lid and gonna pick up two belt pouches. Thinking about picking up a t1 for the added room honestly, worried about not having enough room to pack out meat.

I used a tarp and Bivy last year on a mule deer hunt and while it kept me dry, getting in and out was a pain, as was having my gear wet. I am packing a mountainsmith mountain shelter lt this year. Looking forward to using it as it solves the dilemma of having my gear get wet, plus, for one guy, it's a lot of room.

I am going to use it as a shade shelter mostly like I said with my tent. Weather in Idaho that time of year can be crazy. I'll let you all know what I think when I use it.

Whatever size you get you'll fill it up....it's human nature. Is this hunt Elk or Deer?

Oh yeah don't forget to get a Grab-it...nice add on. For a backpack hunt you could use the Grabit capacity for your Sleep System, Shelter etc...

You may have also seen Kifaru is releasing a new suspension....Basically an upgraded lighter Duplex. Strange time of year for a new release but if you are buying new I would look into it.

Elk...gonna alternate elk and deer for now on. I'm gonna try my absolute hardest to stick to my pack list no matter the size of the bag. And I like the grab it, waiting until next paycheck to buy one in foilage.

Go to the counter at Walmart, hand them your money, they give you the tag.

Alternatively you can put in for a preference point every year and instead of a refund ask for an OTC tag.

Assuming we are talking about CO.

With an OTC tag you can hunt a whole slew of units state wide. As a general rule CO OTC is steep and thick. A fair amount of research is required to give yourself a chance at success. Specific intel from a hunter is the best.

As rehendrix said you can just show up and buy but if you go to an actual game and fish office to purchase you can present you Hunter's Safety card and they will add it to the system. You won't have to carry it with you hunting CO ever again.

I got this from another forum but I thought it was appropriate.
