Nice choice... Now it's time to make some LDPs with that thing!

Get yourself a Remington 700 BDL 243 with a nikon prostaff 3x9-40 and be done with it! No reason to spend $1,000+ on your first rifle...

My wife is about that same size and shoots a T/C Encore with a thumbhole stock and heavy barrel in .25-06 and loves it. It is a great round that will cover a large range of animals. She shoots 100 grain Corelockts. I bought the gun for myself when we first started dating. She shot her first couple of deer with a .243, but wanted to try my gun since it was "prettier." Now I barely get to use it anymore. She has shot a ton of stuff with. I think it's a great round, very flat shooting and still packs a good punch. I have killed oryx and red stag with it and never had any problems.

She lets me use it every now and then.

Ok so all I do is bow hunt, but now I kind of want to get myself a rifle!! I am kind of clueless when it comes to this department! So I was going to see if any of yall would mind naming some brands, calibers, scopes, etc. that are out there so I can somewhat get an idea of what would be good just for a little 100 lb. girl that’s only 5 foot tall!
I have done a little research and I have found that .243, 270 or 280 are my top picks so far!!
Thanks guys can’t wait to see what yall got for me!!
Ok, sometimes with all the off topic posts I wonder about that !!! (I love the green screen)
I think you are awesome for picking the sport up coming from a non hunting family, so congrats to you.
Really, I think the .243 is an awesome caliber that can be used on anything Texas has to offer. The .270 to me is one of the best all around, all purpose calibers made. I have used my .270 on everything from deer, to pigs, to Elk with no issues.
Weatherby has a great vangard for like 400$, put a decent Leupold on it and you are set for life ! Good Luck to ya and let us know what you end up with.
